it was heart breaking to see how much the dead sea has changed since my childhood. hotels and the like abandoned due to the water level diminishing over the years. the oasis is since gone, but the bedouins remain.

travel awards you the opportunity to meet people you would otherwise never know existed. some will stay with you. you may forget their name but never the impact. she was one of those. I need to start carrying a notepad for just that reason, to remember. since age is not in my favor when it comes to memory. she wanted to do her part to help ukranian refugees, so she sold ice cream out of her front door in the beautiful and historic castle combe. all the proceeds going to an honorable endeavor whilst raising my faith in humanity a little bit more.

to say I am behind in sharing my work is the understatement of the century. sometimes life takes precedence. other times the hate supersedes the love when it comes to social media. stay tuned for an almost daily look at my work. more than likely you will never see it and it will remain hidden among the millions who remain hidden from the masses. c'est la vie!

the lake district was on my list for a long time and for good reason. it is a magical place. it exudes a sentiment of unadulterated stillness. it’s a difficult feeling to describe in words other than that one can catch their breath here … time slows down.

the gatekeepers.
stonehenge, it’s history, has always fascinated the masses for centuries. these massive stones set upon a hilltop bring floods of onlookers day after day. it’s popularity never fading. but what doesn’t get much attention are it’s inhabitants. the guardians, the gatekeepers, of the stones. the rooks.
these territorial birds, often sit perched atop the stones, keeping away any approaching seagulls. that is until they recognize those familiarly faces (up to 100 km away) that feed them. I just happened to meet one of those, a local photographer who often comes to photograph the stones and feed the rooks, who he knows by name.
while chatting with him I was able to get very close and see just how beautiful these winged protectors really are.
so if ever you have an opportunity to visit this wonder of the world, be sure to look up and gaze upon the other wonders of stonehenge.
