We gathered to remember and pay tribute to the dedicated workers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and upkeep of our roadways. Their legacy paves the path to safety for us all. Exciting news! The California Highway Patrol has launched our new Online Crash Portal, making it easier to obtain crash reports. Now, you can get a digital copy of your crash report, free of charge, by simply visiting crashes.chp.ca.gov or scanning the QR code found on the crash card provided by the CHP Officer at the crash scene. Just another way to improve the service we provide to the communities we serve.

During this week, we honor all those who serve in one of the most essential roles for first responders. They are an integral part of our Department, without whom we could not fulfill our mission. We extend our special thanks to all of our California Highway Patrol Public Safety Dispatchers and Public Safety Operators. They are the voice of the CHP, always prepared to respond to the call. 📞🚓
For 2024, the California Highway Patrol assembled the CHP Elite Team, a running team comprised of its fastest runners, to compete at the Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay. The relay is the largest law enforcement sporting event in the world, featuring over 120 miles of pavement, 20 stages, and over 10,000 runners. The yearly race commences in Baker, California, and finishes in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year's race produced some of the fiercest competition in years.

Two California Highway Patrol Officers injured in deliberate wrong-way crash. On March 13, 2024, at 3:38 pm, two CHP Officers were stopped on the right shoulder of Interstate-80 eastbound just west of Mace Blvd., when an individual intentionally drove their vehicle on the right shoulder and crashed into the patrol vehicle. At the time, both officers were sitting in the patrol vehicle and wearing their seatbelts. The officers were transported to a hospital and were treated for minor to major injuries. The individual who committed this violent act was taken into custody and will be booked into the local jail.

Since midnight and noon today there have been 205 crashes in San Diego County. On a sunny San Diego day we respond to approximately 75 crashes in a 24 hour period. Please give yourself extra time to get to your destination today. Look at traffic conditions prior to leaving due to several road closures. As of this post there are 117 active incidents in our area. Slow down and be safe.
