As May is mental health awareness month, the YMCA of San Diego has organized opportunities for staff across the county to take a break from work and prioritize self-care. This week, we organized a hike in north county at Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve in Rancho Peñasquitos. The 6+ mile trail featured native San Diego plants, horses, and a path leading to a relaxing waterfall. It was a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of mental health awareness and the value of building connections within our community for overall well-being.

The Toby Wells YMCA recently had the pleasure of hosting two soccer legends, Juan Mata from Manchester United and Tab Ramos from Real Betis Balompié. During their visit, they were greeted by our Toby Wells Y preschoolers, took a tour of the facility with Executive Director Kari Logan, held a meet and greet for families and fans, and led soccer drills with our youth. It was an amazing afternoon that we will always cherish! ⚽ We eagerly anticipate the upcoming Snapdragon Cup on July 31 at 7 pm, where we will witness an exciting match between Manchester United and Real Betis. It’s sure to be a historic event! 🎇

It's Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week! We would like to take a moment to recognize and appreciate all the individuals involved in our Y Expanded Learning Programs who make it possible for us to offer impactful and amazing programs. Our programs operate in over 84 schools across San Diego County and we have a team of over 1,000 staff members who work tirelessly to achieve this. We appreciate them every day, but this week is a special opportunity to show our gratitude and appreciation. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and we, at the YMCA of San Diego County, are committed to protecting children from all forms of abuse.
