Meet this week’s Bar Star, Bonnie Benitez.

Bonnie is the Executive Director of Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and in addition to her work in support of the plaintiff’s bar, she serves in several important volunteer roles. She is a Commissioner on the City of San Diego Commission on Police Practices, which is charged with reviewing and evaluating complaints brought by the public against the city’s police department. The Commission also reviews and evaluates officer-involved shootings, all in-custody deaths, and all police actions that result in the death of a person.

In addition, she serves on both the Strategic Planning and Nominating committees for the National Association of Trial Lawyer Executives, which works to "ensure justice for all and protection of the 7th amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

A true animal lover, Bonnie also is an Adoption Coach for an organization called California Labs & More, which rescues and fosters Labradors and other dog breeds, "giving them a new chance at life." She is the former Chair of the Executives of California Legal Associations, and currently is the Secretary for the Mid-City Community Advocacy Network, an organization comprised of members of her community who want to make a difference.
