COVID-19 Resources For Undocumented Californians Our families deserve to be healthy, together. The mental strain of separation is especially fervent during crises such as this, so make sure you're checking in with your loved ones during this period of collective isolation.
Q***r Healing Oasis is currently hosting a non-clinical virtual support group for anxiety in response to the pandemic of Covid-19. Precautionary measures like social distancing are impacting small mental health businesses due to unforeseen cancelations. I understand most clients do not have access to their own space when conducting sessions and sharing confidential information, are taking care of loved ones, or are now unemployed without pay. All this is causing panic and increasing overall anxiety. The intention of the support group is to gain some tools and have a space to share. This is not therapy nor is the platform I will be utilizing (Zoom) a confidential platform, but I will strongly encourage folks to be mindful. I am asking people to please email: [email protected] for a pre-screening and obtain link to the virtual session. I will not be charging; however, strongly encourage people to donate.
STARTS TODAY, 3/16/2020
7pm PST
Monday, Wednesday, & Thursdays until further notice.
Ay que recordar que no es lo que te pones, si no como lo luces. Tu eres valuable sea lo que sea!
It's not about what you're wearing, but how you sport. You are valuable regardless.

RSVP in the link in our bio or at TheStrangeisBeautiful.com to visit during one of our events at the exhibit. Swipe to see all hours of operation. MORE INFO BELOW.
ABOUT:
“You Can Be Broke And Self-Care” is The Strange is Beautiful’s photo and interview project featuring 13 people in LA with mind obstacles (that’s what we call mental illnesses) practicing alternative self-care authentically in their home or space.
From the submissions we received, we chose a wide range in ages, from 14-37, as well as in body types, ethnicities, identities, mind obstacles, and all different self-care practices.
Expect to see polaroids, digital prints, 1-4 quotes of each of the 13 people interviewed, 3-5 journal prompts for each one, and self-care community events featuring , , .teca, and .co.
PURPOSE:
Our intention is to show that self-care doesn’t require spending a lot of money, or wearing expensive clothes. It is a rebellion against capitalism and societal expectations that productivity always has to be making or spending money.
COST:
$5-$30 sliding scale

If trauma had a name, it wouldn't be chosen. We too often carry traumas that do not belong to us. The world, society, people tell us we should worry and care for those we love. Yet, it is important to not carry the traumas other carry. We can support people in their trauma, but we should never carry it. Let go.
Y'all I'll be going live with soon! I'll be sharing some tips on how to take care of our mental health during these raids and this administration. Stay tuned at 7pm PST!

Would you ask for clarity or guidance? This is a question that triggered other questions. I'm curious what you ask for? And who do you ask?
I've heard too many times from my clients how they've felt uncomfortable in therapy bc they are 1) misgendered, 2) never asked about pronouns, and/or 3) the therapist does not have a gender neutral restroom.
Things to consider as a therapist:
Do you use your client's preferred name?
Do you ask your client what pronouns they'd like to use?
Are your intake forms gender inclusive?
Are there gender inclusive restrooms in your building?
Are you being mindful of using client's therapy session to educate yourself about gender?
Hope everyone is having a lovely sunny Saturday. It's sunny alright in the San Fernando Valley. Here's a gentle reminder for when new emotions arise.
How many seconds are you willing to give yourself?
