Christine's

organic microbakery and consciously made wares

Photos from Christine's post 08/07/2024

Thank you, new and old friends, for showing so much love this weekend as Aileen from .story did her first craft fair with us. It was an immense challenge for me to do most of the event setup, production and baking for an event like this all while keeping the microbakery open, but so many friends came together to support me along the way! We are still recovering (mostly me catching up on lost sleep) but are already dreaming about the next craft fair we do together!

Otherwise, I’m heading back into production prep for this upcoming weekend. Oatmeal brittle will continue to soft launch at the microbakery and pre-orders are open until midnight for each day. Hope to see you soon!

In the midst of getting the microbakery open and closing off our previous chapter, it was tough to find the time to share the origin stories and launch of the new recipes being developed at christine’s. So I’m excited to formally introduce some of our new shortbread cookie flavors this season~

Our latest menu addition is a sea salt espresso cookie with a buckwheat shortbread base. After spending time at baking school learning about a variety of alternative grains, I went back to the drawing board with creating a gluten-free cookie, knowing that alternative grains ought to be highlighted in a way to let their natural flavors shine.

Buckwheat is naturally nutty in flavor, and pairs extremely well with earthy flavors such as espresso and chocolate. We’re proud to be sourcing organic espresso beans from Linea Coffee in San Francisco, as well as 70% single origin dark chocolate from our friends at TCHO in Berkeley.

Second, matcha was a highly requested flavor since the launch of our business in 2020, but because I personally wasn’t a big matcha drinker, a cookie was never released. However, I had the opportunity to visit Japan with friends last year, and made it one of my goals to have matcha in its purest form, to observe how the Japanese use the ingredient in their drinks and desserts.

And so, the matcha shortbread was born - the simple shortbread base is paired with organic matcha from our friends at Neighbor’s Corner (tea from Roots and Craft), blended in the best vegan white chocolate we know from TCHO in Berkeley. I’d like to believe that this is the way the Japanese would like to have their matcha, if it was in a cookie.

Pre-orders close this Thursday at 5 PM PST for Friday and Saturday pickup. Come try out our shortbread flavors and other cookies and have some coffee while you linger!

Thank you, dear friends!

We feel incredibly loved as many of you came out for our grand opening featuring special pop-up guest, Aileen from .story . It was a memorable day for us all, and I (Christine) couldn’t help but feel incredibly grateful for the friends and family that have been part of making this chapter happen for my little microbakery.

christine’s will now be open every Friday and Saturday from 11 am - 3 pm, with pre-orders available for the upcoming week. We often get asked whether pre-orders are necessary - while walk ins should be available, I always recommend pre-ordering as it helps us with anticipating demand and it’s the best way to skip the line. Sometimes we also run out of flavors, so we hate to turn around customers if something they want isn’t in stock!

Our ‘choose what you pay’ coffee program will also be available this week for those who can linger. Drip coffee and cold brew made with organic beans from will be served in reusable ceramics to reduce waste, otherwise we encourage you to bring your own cup if you would like coffee to go.

Last but not least, if you missed out on the .story pop up last Saturday, fear not - her clothing and homewares* will be available at the shop for the next few weeks!

Pre-orders close this Thursday at 5 PM PST for both opening days - link below to order. Hope to see you soon~

*Don’t we look INCREDIBLE with our new .story aprons and scarves? (: These aprons will also be available for pre-order - the perfect gift for a home baker or the foodie in your life. Ask anyone on the christine’s team - these aprons are beautiful, quality pieces that have been designed to last. We love them so much!

Thank you all for a lovely rainy Saturday. Many of you braved the rain to pick up fresh cookies, and we are so grateful for your support despite the weather! All your pre-orders kept us busy baking and packing through the storm, and I am still catching up with production to make sure there are plenty of cookies for you all this upcoming weekend.

Join us for our last weekend of soft opening this Saturday at the microbakery (2050 Bryant St.) from 11 am - 3 pm, or on Sunday at our neighboring flower shop, Marigold (2681 21st St), for a special Mother’s Day pop up from 10 am - 1 pm. I’ve been so delighted to fill our space with whimsical bouquets from Marigold each week, and I know they will be such a treat along with some cookies for the mothers in your life!

This weekend will be the last chance to get our cookies until June when we’ll kick off the summer with the indoor West Coast Craft show at Fort Mason (6/8-9), then our grand opening, happening June 22. So head on over to pre-order - they’ll close on Friday at 5 PM.

Wow.

I'm writing this a few days after our soft opening this past Saturday. Peter (my husband) and I sat in complete silence for an hour after we closed shop...emotions all over the place, thoughts still sorting out themselves in the brain fog.

As a business owner, I can't help but have plenty of doubt when it comes to big changes like this. Having run this company for 4 years and knowing all that can go wrong, the realist in me always dreads the possibility that no one will show up...or that our cookies turn out terribly. But me oh my, was I wrong this past weekend.

Our heads were constantly down baking, or up talking to you all as you flooded into our microbakery this past Saturday. We clearly underestimated how many of you would come out to support our soft opening, traveling from all over the Bay Area just for our cookies. So from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for your patience, as many of you had to not only wait in line, but also wait another 20+ minutes for your cookies to be baked and cooled from the oven as we tried to catch up with your orders. We never received a single complaint, but only saw smiles and heard comments saying that it was well worth the wait. To that, we are so grateful.

A thank you to for also taking beautiful photos of the soft opening as I was unable to take a break from the baking, and for the beautiful flowers that made our microbakery feel even more like home.

As for what's next, we will continue our soft opening this Saturday (5/4) and the next (5/11) from 11 am - 3 pm. We are working out some details with our building management, but recommend navigating to 2050 Bryant St. to find our space in the pedestrian walkway, instead of ending up in the building lobby.

Pre-orders are also open on our new website for this upcoming Saturday - I highly recommend pre-ordering if possible so we can better anticipate demand! Hope to see some of you this upcoming Saturday or the next at our microbakery - pre-orders close this Friday at 5 PM.

Welcome to christine’s ~ a home, an organic microbakery, a space for more conscious living. Join us for our soft opening this Saturday, April 27th from 11 AM - 3 PM at 2823 18th St. Unit 107 (we are located at the back of the building in the pedestrian walkway). I’ll be baking lots of cookies, so do invite your family, friends, or anyone that you think would love them as well!

After 3 years of traveling pop ups, christine’s cookie co. is onto its next chapter. Based out of a place we now call home, this new microbakery will not only provide cookies fresh out of the oven, but also other seasonal pastries and consciously made wares reflecting my values for sustainability and artisanship, hence the new name, christine’s.

I truly hope this business can exist to further my vision for a more sustainable and equitable community here in San Francisco and beyond. By supporting local and organic farmers and food producers, showcasing intentionally curated home goods made by local artists and small businesses like mine, or finding moments to give back and volunteer whenever we can, it’s my dream to foster a community where we can continue to build a healthier planet and support one another. Though I’m back to being a tiny business (a one-baker show + some help from family and friends), I am looking forward to this very personable chapter, one that was only made possible by all of you. Hope to see you soon at my place for all the things that are near and dear to me, at christine’s!

Let us know in the poll below if you can make it (:

It’s happening~ a giveaway, events, and the soft launch of our microbakery!

Some of you may not know this, but in a previous life, I was a published author, worked in corporate sustainability, and shared my journey of living with less online (at one point, yes, all at once). christine’s cookie co. began because of those formative years in my early career, hoping that my passion for sustainability could be expressed in a more tangible way with my local community - in this case, through organic cookies.

This next chapter of the microbakery will be, I hope, a bridge between my previous life and the present. There’s more to come on this, but let’s sum it up the important details here:

1. April being Earth month is always a special time for me. So, I’m doing a free zero waste 101 workshop with .sf , my new local zero waste hub and refillery on 4/21 from 2-3 PM. If you would like to learn more and connect on low waste living, please swing by! Find more details to RSVP in my stories.

2. The christine’s microbakery soft launch will also be happening later that week on 4/27 from 11 AM - 3 PM! More details will also be shared shortly, but do mark your calendars and expect freshly baked cookies. I don’t plan on selling out as I will bake continuously throughout the day if we are running low on flavors.

3. Giveaway - as a gift to you, I’m giving one free copy of my book, Sustainable Home, as well as a box of 4 cookies on the day of our soft launch. To enter, tag any friend in the comments. Each comment = 1 entry, no limit on entries. Winner must be able to pick up their prize at the microbakery soft launch on 4/27.

Things are getting busy over here as I slowly ramp up production and my first corporate order later this week, but I hope you are all ready as I am to have freshly baked cookies on the regular here in SF!

It’s been a minute, but so excited for you all to visit our new home in the city.

After 3 months of going through covid and other sicknesses, then playing a waiting game with the health department after my application got lost in the mail, I’m happy to say that the inspection is scheduled and we’re starting to move forward with the remaining equipment purchases and renovations to get this micro bakery space up and running.

There are moments when it really starts to hit me that this is happening - it’s so exciting yet bittersweet, as I’m now one-woman show. But I am looking forward to the many inspirations that come with living in such a lovely city, and eagerly awaiting to share cookies in this space that we are calling home for at least the next two years. All the money we’ve saved from this business is going towards the build out, equipment, and furnishings, and though it’s scary to see our bank account dwindle, I know how much I’ve been wanting to have my own production space for the past four years, and I continue to recognize how blessed I am, that we can afford to do so all because of your support!

There’s more to come as I’m working on a rebrand that represents all that I love and hope to bring with my little corner of influence, and I sincerely hope this space brings joy and many blessings to those of you who come and visit.

The end of the year means one thing: the return of our chocolate crinkle cookie! A cakey, dark-chocolate cookie covered with a coat of sugar - reminiscent of snow-covered ground in the winter. It’s my favorite holiday cookie, because you all know how much I love chocolate (;

Proud of how far we’ve come the our plant-based flavors on our menu. As many of you have seen or heard, we’ve moved away from our vegan butter supplier due to severe quality issues this past spring, and are now making our own in house butter. All of our cookies now have Christine’s Cookie Co.’s homemade vegan butter, including our decadent crinkle cookie.

Find this cookie as well as our five other flavors (chocolate chip, walnut, pumpkin doodle, blueberry chocolate oatmeal, black sesame oreo) this upcoming weekend as we kick off the holiday season with , or pre-order for pickup at one of partner locations:

As some of you may have seen, we have a bit of a hurdle to overcome as the catalytic converter for our cookie car was stolen this morning. But thankful for our partner pickup locations and for helping us keep the lights somewhat on this weekend as pop ups may have to be on hold until all is resolved.

But some good news…the crusted sugar spice combo, hint of pumpkin, and smell of lovely spices - it’s time to welcome back one of our classic seasonals, pumpkin doodle.

So excited for the coming of cooler weather and the holidays before we know it. We love our pumpkin doodle cookie, a combination of pumpkin, spices, and brown butter, rolled in sugar and additional pumpkin spice. Our bakers have been working hard to get this seasonal back into production this past week, and we’ve ran a few tests to make sure it’s as yummy as ever!

Pre-order pumpkin doodle for this upcoming weekend at our weekend-long pop up with in Mountain View, or one of our partner pickup locations. Walk-in orders for pop up are pending so we’ll keep everyone here updated, but pre-orders are open for both days! The team will also be taking a well deserved break this upcoming Tuesday due to Labor Day, and before we know it, we may be opening up nationwide shipping again, weather permitting! So many exciting things.

Saturday, 9/2 pre-order pickup available and
Saturday - Sunday, 9/2-3 pending pop up (changes will be announced if needed) at in Mountain View from 10 AM - 1 PM or sold out (pre-orders available)

One of the best parts of being a small cookie business is being able to personally hand a bag of freshly baked all-organic cookies to each customer with a smile! Many of you who visit us at popups ask if we make the cookies ourselves, and yes, we do! We feel a strong sense of pride when we meet the people who will eat or gift the cookies that we make from scratch.

We have a couple events scheduled for this weekend and would love to see you there! The lineup includes: chocolate chip, chocolate walnut, salted peanut butter chocolate, vegan chocolate chip, lemon earl grey, black sesame oreo, peanut butter dog cookies, and cookie granola.

Another pop up weekend in the books - such a lovely time spent this very warm, but restful July 4th weekend! Thank you all for your support and our first time ! I felt so loved and supported by you all, and seeing Maya’s family-like community over at Neighbor’s Corner made this weekend all the more endearing. Thank you to the stranger who also helped me load my entire booth out of my Prius that morning!

Our bakers are gearing up for another weekend with new and old pop up locations. Our lineup for the weekend includes: chocolate chip, chocolate walnut, salted peanut butter chocolate, vegan chocolate chip, lemon earl grey, black sesame oreo, peanut butter dog cookies, and cookie granola. Find us at the following spots this weekend and pre-order via our website.

Saturday, 7/8 from 12 - 3 PM

Had a fantastic weekend doing double duty events - thank you for supporting our bakers, our cause, and grabbing some organic cookies. We are thrilled to be heading into the following weekend with old and new pop up locations, partnering with some of our favorite small coffee shop businesses throughout the bay. Our July calendar is almost solidified, so head to our Instagram highlights or calendar to see where we’re traveling next!

This Saturday 7/1, we’ll be popping up with in Mountain View. We already have pop ups set for August and September since our cookies have sold out earlier than anticipated every time. As always, highly recommend pre-ordering for this location - we’re always capable of baking more cookies, but to reduce food waste, we base our bake numbers off of historical demand and pre-orders. Help us help you get your cookies!

And this Sunday, 7/2, we’ll be popping up at a new location in San Francisco: . So many of you that have met us at West Coast Craft and are always trying to get cookies before they sell out, so we’re making an effort to do smaller pop ups in San Francisco as well! Can’t wait to see some of you in this lovely coffee shop on the outskirts of Noe Valley. Pre-orders are also open for this location!

Bay Area wide shipping and pre-order pickup happens tomorrow and will close today at 2 PM!

Pre-orders for the weekend close Friday at noon. Cookie granola is also still on the menu as well, if you’re curious to try it out! Hope to see you soon cookie friends.

When life gives you a lot of oatmeal cookies, turn them into cookie granola - the perfect pairing with a bowl of yogurt or ice cream, or as is.

Behind the scenes at Christine’s Cookie Co., we’ve been having the not so fun task of quality issues with one of our suppliers, resulting in us halting production of our blueberry chocolate oatmeal cookie. We are trying our very best to put our best foot forward this weekend with what’s been happening (hence all the test cookies many of you have been helping us eat this week). However, we’re also transforming our current inventory of oatmeal cookies into this tasty snack as a means to reduce food waste and create something just as delicious!

Not going to lie - this is my new breakfast kick. I have bowl of every morning with greek yogurt, and now that berry season is here, it’s all the more delicious with fresh berries. My favorite part? When the chocolate melts down and gets coated with the bits of dough, making for a delicious baked chocolate morsel. Pair that with crunchy cookie bits, toasty oats, and you’ve got yourself a pretty delightful breakfast and snack option throughout the day.

This will be a limited edition product to help us get through our current inventory, so try it out this weekend at the following events or pre-order online. Don’t need a jar? Bring your own container to our Coffee and Water Lab or Flowerland pop up this weekend, and we’ll sell it to you for $1.25/oz so you can save a few bucks and help us reduce our packaging footprint!

We are so excited to be at our regular pop up spots, taking part in some very special celebrations and also getting back at it with San Jose Made. Pre-orders close Friday at noon for the weekend.

On turning 30 - a summary, full blog post linked here: https://christinescookie.com/blogs/posts/on-turning-30

When I was 4 years old, I wrote in my pre-school yearbook: I'm going to be a baker when I grow up…’ As I sit here, journaling away in a coffee shop right before I go to set up at West Coast Craft for my birthday weekend, I can't help but realize how there's no other way I'd like to spend my 30th birthday weekend… [with] an amazing all-female team that works so hard to get fresh cookies baked in the wee hours of the morning for a wonderful community of cookie friends, old and new….There's no place I'd rather be than amongst amazing creatives, passionate individuals, small businesses owners, and a community that is so supportive of it all.

I've been thinking a lot about the role of a chef or baker - in effect, we are artists with food. We create out of love, a desire to feed. Every creation we make is often a reflection of our cultures, our histories, what we ate as a child, and what we often crave, and some of us are lucky enough to have others entrust their tastebuds to us, taking a chance on our edible creations. Personal recipes are an extension of who we are as individuals, and to have someone want more of your food offers some sort of validation to our identity even if we try to be pragmatic about it…but to see so many of you wanting cookies for some of your very special celebrations, weddings, or even weekend routines...I couldn't be more honored.

So here's to 30 - a new decade of baking more of what I crave and what I believe in. Thank you for making Christine's Cookie Co. a place where I can be my most authentic self, serving baked goods with intention, consciousness, and a whole lot of love. I cannot wait to continue this journey of community building, sustainable food, and baking with you all.

Our cookie team is growing, and we’re looking to add one more baker to the team!

Christine’s Cookie Co. started 3 years ago with a small dream and a small team - just myself and my husband. We’ve since grown to three, then to four, five…all the way to seven bakers. It’s quite difficult to find a moment where all of us can come together for a group photo, but here are a few of my wonderful bakers from the past and present!

If you love to bake, take part in the small business journey, and have an appreciation for all-organic, local food, look no further. We’re looking for some one who isn’t afraid to do the heavy lifting, interact with customers, and jump in on the baking process in the early mornings with our awesome team. If you or someone you know has weekend availability and can commit to 20+ hours a week, we’d love to chat! Apply with the link below or in our profile, and message us with any questions!
