Castro Street Fair
Celebrating 50 years! Join us Sun Oct 6 2024 for the street party founded by icon Harvey Milk! #CSF50 Always the First Sunday in October (11 AM to 6 PM)
For Transgender History Month, we offer a shameless plug: the Fair’s very own board member, Jay Bordon will be appearing onstage this weekend in “Stare into the Void and You’ll See Stars” — an original full length play, written and produced by trans writer Kaz Valtchev, at Potrero Stage!
The work deals with the importance of mental health among the q***r community and how our q***r and trans folks take care of each other.
SYNOPSIS (** Content Warning **)
Luna is on a camping trip with her friends, waiting to watch a meteor shower — sounds relaxing right? Except she’s a ball of anxiety being haunted by the ghost of her friend, Jenn, while her living friends have planned an intervention for her ma*****na use. As the night goes on, everyone in the friend group reveals more secrets surrounding Jenn’s su***de and they learn more about Jenn, each other, and the nature of trauma and healing.
PERFORMANCES
Fri 8/16, 8pm
Sat 8/17, 4pm
Sun 8/18, 8pm

Sending everyone love from Harvey Milk Plaza in the Castro — the q***r heart of San Francisco 🏳️🌈
MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
The 50th Castro Street Fair returns Sunday, October 6, 2024!
The iconic Rainbow Flag at Harvey Milk Plaza was replaced in a fun and joyful changing ceremony on this gorgeous Friday morning, with a fresh new flag hoisted to mark the start of Pride Month in San Francisco!
The Castro Street Fair — which helps fund the flag — was on hand to support the Castro Merchants Association, which stages the changing ceremony every few months. This time, a special assist came from the ecstatic kids from the Buen Dia Family School — a longtime beneficiary of the Fair.
Some fun facts provided by The Gilbert Baker Foundation:
Artist Gilbert Baker created the Rainbow Flag in San Francisco in 1978, assisted by a diverse group of radical activists. "The Gilbert Baker Rainbow Flag at Harvey Milk Plaza" — which includes the flagpole and base — is itself the artist's sole remaining permanent art installation. It has since become the globally recognized symbol of LGBTQ+ liberation, a beacon of hope for all people.
The retired flag will be donated to Napa Valley College for use at their Pride Center when it opens in the fall.
Were you at the changing ceremony today? Share your @ in the comments — and Happy Pride, everyone!
