Wholesome Bakery
Guilt Free Goodies made with local, organic and responsible ingredients.
This photo fills my heart with so much joy. We all met over a decade ago doing street food and together built an incredible food scene. - When I was riding my orange track bike around the city with an attached trailer filled with goodies to sell. Desiree was selling the most delicious Chai you’ve ever had and Jason making bomb Adobo! Feels like another life even though I’m still kinda living it. Hah! So incredibly grateful for all the amazing people I’ve met on this wild road to build Wholesome Bakery. 🫶
It’s all happening… tomorrow at 10 am. Beignets y’all. BEIGNETS.
I’m so excited about my newest creation. Inspired by a recent trip I took with my husband to Spain… I bring you this gorgeous and delicious Basque Cheesecake. A rich traditional Spanish style cheesecake with a caramel undertone. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. ♥️
Friday we passed an absolute impossible food safety audit that my operation manager, head of production and myself had been working tirelessly for months to ensure we were successful in. I can not emphasize enough how detailed, difficult and utterly scrutinizing this audit was. But passing it means so many incredible possibilities for us including the ability to over time, go national with many grocery chains, starting with Whole Foods.
While I was so thrilled we passed with a very high score, I found myself in a really bad mood not long after. The amount of work and diligence it takes to run a business is… really and truly insurmountable. I’d be lying if I said at times I didn’t want to blow it all up and just move to Spain to ideally live a simpler life. (Every business owner I’m sure can relate.) But every time I have a moment like that I run into a customer who couldn’t be more gracious and appreciative or connect with one of my staff who is so hardworking and dedicated, and I remember this isn’t just about me and my bu****it.
It’s still very hard for me to shake that my company is no longer a “one women show” and that it’s become bigger than me. Basically what I’m getting at is, like so many things in life it really takes a village. Without my caring team and without my loyal customers and supportive friends, husband and so on, none of this would exist and who knows what my life would be.
I’m not great at celebrating my achievements, because as the engine in this crazy train my attention immediately turns to “what’s next.” I.e. opening a warehouse; while exciting also a huge undertaking. This is both a strength and a weakness of mine. But for now I want to try to keep my eye on the present and see what is right in front of me. This business that I built with all of you. That I couldn’t have and still won’t be able to achieve without all of you. When I stop, I’m so blown away that this company that I dreamt up exists. So thank you for believing me and what I hope to achieve big and small as I continue to push us forward.

Missing a couple people here, but still SO stoked on my team. I couldn’t be more grateful for everyone of them. All with so much integrity and care for what we do. They impress me daily as they do their best to rise to any situation. None of what we do at WB would be possible without such a strong team. 🙏❤️

Mandy is the bakery’s founder, CEO, and ultimate mastermind behind every delicious recipe. Ever since she was a young girl, Mandy had led a sustainable, healthy life, and soon had the realization that she wanted to help other people live sustainable lives too.
With that thought, Mandy created Wholesome Bakery. Beginning as a small company that worked out of a pop up in the Mission District, WB has now transformed into a beautiful brick and mortar on Divisadero Street. Mandy and our WB team thank you all dearly for making every step possible and hope that you’re all making strides towards sustainable living.
Cheers to healthy living and a healthy Earth, and to YOU for making it all possible.

What food really costs us...
Good evening lovely people, Mandy here. It’s Thanksgiving, the one day a year that almost everyone in the U.S. turns their attention towards food.
With this holiday being so food centric, I was thinking even more so about our food system. Mainly, how Americans have been misled in regards to how precious food is and with that, the true value of it.
Earlier this month I was at a grocery store with my husband and saw a name brand Apple Pie in the freezer section that was $5.99. I pointed it out and said, “See that pie? What most people don’t know - is in order for that pie to be sold at $5.99 the manufacturer spent a MAXIMUM of 75 CENTS on the ingredients.” The look on his face is probably similar to the look on yours right now.
So how the hell can they only spend 75 cents on ingredients!? First, they’re a huge company with buying power that can push farmers around to get the price they want and second they’re using the lowest quality, most processed filler ingredients available, that are not only bad for you, but the planet. It's really crappy, but that $5.99 quickly ends up costing everyone a lot more in the long run.
I bring all of this up as a reminder of the amazing small business with ethics that we must continue to support. Yes, these small businesses come at a premium but there’s a reason.
I created a pie chart - pun intended - to give you an idea of where every cent of your dollar goes within my company and companies like mine. Swipe to check it out.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy holiday.
xox,
Mandy
👋🏼 beautiful people!
Mandy here! 😘 I want to wish everyone a Happy Indigenous People Day! Growing up in Arizona and being Native American, I remember in school learning why we celebrated Columbus Day; for his discovery of America. As I got older, outside of school I began doing a deeper dive into history as a whole and learned that a big part of his legacy also included the genocide of my ancestors. While unfortunately this is a common tale since the beginning of time, it was very disappointing that this key detail from our history was ignored and not taught.
I understand as humans we want to focus on the positive in life. But it's so important that we also teach the truth of the past, even when is something we aren't proud of. This is how we learn and grow into a better society.
I encourage you to seek out as much knowledge as possible and with that, let's celebrate each other! Not only our differences but our similarities.
Love you all! Enjoy the day and please remember to stay safe! 💕
xox, Mandy

We are committed to taking the following extra steps:
