Various factors cause acidity in our mouths. Mouth breathing is one big culprit while stress, acidic and sugary foods can cause this as well. This acidity causes demineralization thereby damaging the enamel. The lost mineral from this damage can be boosted with a nutrition dense anti-inflammatory diet. In addition, for natural supplementation, food-grade fulvic minerals, diatomaceous earth, and bentonite clay are great options. These substances can also help with detox!

It is a common belief that losing all of your teeth and wearing dentures is a natural part of the aging process. However, this is not true. With structural balance (proper alignment of the teeth and jaws), good oral hygiene, and regular visits to the dentist, it is possible to prevent tooth loss.

When the teeth and jaw are properly aligned, your body becomes more balanced, and teeth become protected from harmful tooth on tooth collisions. It promotes proper fluid flow such as blood circulation and saliva, and therefore the mouth will also be a more alkaline environment, making it hard for disease causing bacteria to thrive.

Although home hygiene can play a large role in prevention and maintenance, achieving structural balance requires professional care. If your teeth are crowded, you have had braces before, or you feel your sleep quality could be better, these are signs that tell structural correction may be needed.

Charcoal is a natural adsorbent and binds to toxins. It is used on the farmland to detox from pesticides and can turn the soil into organic farming quality soil. In water pipes, it reduces the mildew biofilm. Speaking of biofilm, we also have this in our mouths which becomes a platform for harmful bacteria to propagate. Placing a layer of activated hardwood or coconut charcoal over the teeth and gum surfaces in the mouth will detox and help reduce biofilm, and therefore inflammation, and prevent risk of dental disease.

As a dietary supplement, organic activated charcoal is also safe if swallowed unlike many commercial or prescription products which can contain carcinogens. Revive your oral health with natural methods which is also non-toxic for your body!

For those families who are using any type of fluoridated toothpaste for their children, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends using a small amount or grain size of toothpaste for young children to help prevent side effects like dental fluorosis.

It is also important to remind children to spit out the toothpaste after brushing, rather than swallowing it, to help reduce the risk of fluoride exposure. Additionally, it is a good idea to encourage children to brush their teeth for two minutes, twice a day, to help remove plaque and prevent tooth decay.

Consult with a Revive Dental Physician if you wish for non-toxic alternatives. https://www.drhyunbang.com/appointment

According to a study in the Journal of Dentistry, exercise has numerous health benefits, including improving oral health. Regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of periodontal (gum) disease and improve overall oral health by:

1. Reducing stress: Exercise can help reduce stress and anxiety, which can be contributing factors to gum disease.
2. Improving blood flow: Exercise increases blood flow throughout the body, including the mouth. This can help nourish the gums and keep them healthy.
3. Strengthening the immune system: Regular exercise can strengthen the immune system, which can help the body fight off infections, including gum disease.

In addition to these benefits, outdoor exercise has the added benefit of exposing the body to fresh oxygenated ionized air and natural sunlight, which can help the body produce vitamin D. Vitamin D is important for maintaining strong and healthy bones, including the jawbone, which supports the teeth.

National Drinking Straw Day is a holiday that takes place on January 3rd and is meant to celebrate the invention of the drinking straw. The drinking straw was invented in 1888 by a man named Marvin C. Stone, and it quickly became a popular way to drink beverages, especially cold ones.

There are several oral health benefits to using a straw when drinking beverages. Here are a few:

1. Reduced tooth enamel erosion: Lemon water is alkalizing and a healthy habit. Yet frequent use of this can cause tooth enamel to erode, leading to tooth sensitivity. Using a straw can help reduce the contact with enamel in such cases.
2. Reduced risk of staining: Although coffees and teas with caffeine and tannins have a negative effect on the body's health due to dehydration and other issues, if this is a part of one's routine, the stains can be prevented with the use of straw.
3. Reduced risk of tooth decay: Sugary drinks are not recommended even with straws. The reason is carbohydrates must have contact and mixing with saliva's enzyme amylase for proper digestion. Using straws to bypass this will over time contribute to gut health issues, which will then decrease our immune defense. All in all, let us avoid sugary drinks with or without straws.

It's important to note that while using a straw can offer some benefits to oral health, it's still important to brush and floss regularly and visit the dentist for regular checkups and cleanings.

Lastly, please consider using reusable straws as the plastic straws can harm the environment.

Studies have shown that both manual and powered toothbrushes are effective at removing plaque if used properly.

For people with dexterity problems (such as the elderly, children, and people with disabilities), the oscillating and rotary movements of bristles make it easy to clean the surface of the teeth. It is advised to use a toothbrush with soft bristles to reduce the risk of gingival abrasion.

Sonic brushes are very effective in removing the sticky film over teeth. At the same time, manual brushes may help to get into hard-to-reach corners safely and fine-tune missed spots. Always run your tongue over your gum line. If a little fuzzy is left, spend a bit of extra time. This will help remove what is left behind.

Speak with our Revive Dental Physician at your appointments about the most optimal way to get the nooks and crannies with effective angling of the brush.

Bentonite Clay and Diatomaceous Earth food grade are nutritional supplements that can be added to food for mineral boosts. Allowing these mineral-rich powders to soak into your teeth overnight or even longer minutes during tooth brushing can contribute to stronger enamel. The early stage of tooth decay may just heal before it needs a filling.

It is also anti-inflammatory and has helped our patients with their gum bleeding and swelling with overnight use. You can ask our Revive Dental Physician about how to obtain the home-treatment aligners.

Remember, any remedy must be accompanied with a healthy lifestyle, especially diet. Receive lifestyle tips and education during your visit to our clinic.

Storing your wet toothbrush in a confined container encourages bacterial growth. You should thoroughly rinse your toothbrush after use to remove any remaining paste and debris. It would be best if you stored it in an upright position to allow it to air dry and to prevent the growth of microorganisms.

Although there are many toothbrushing methods that have different advantages depending on an individual's needs. It is suggested by the American Dental Association to angulate your brush at a 45-degree angle towards the gingival margin while moving the brush in small circular strokes. You should ensure that all surfaces-inner, outer, and chewing should be cleaned during the 2-minutes brushing time. This is one of the methods that ensure optimum plaque removal and stimulates blood circulation in the gums.

Always remembers to brush twice a day and floss after. Read more: https://www.drhyunbang.com/dental-blog/oral-hygiene-post-2-brushing-flossing-and-the-secret-to-oral-health

Enamel is the hardest substance in your body. Yet acids have the ability to erode it. People who clench heavily or grind teeth will be even more prone, since microfractures and weakening of the enamel occur, and acids have more opportunities to erode the tooth. Mouth breathing is also quite detrimental due to promotion of dryness and acidity becomes worse. Habits which promote alkalinity in the mouth therefore becomes essential.

Research shows that inflammation in our mouth, gum/periodontal disease, is linked to a cluster of medical conditions, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. It can also affect your gut health negatively. A generally healthy lifestyle and diet are highly essential in order to be resilient to such issues.

Coconut oil is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and can reduce harmful oral bacteria more effectively than commercial mouthrinses. It shows comparable efficacy in comparison with prescription mouthrinses without the toxicity of the prescriptions! Aside from helping reduce oral inflammation, coconut oil contains MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) which absorbs in the gut and becomes brain fuel. MCT for this reason helps prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
