Thank you and team for such an inspiring tour today.
The Manual team left the tour buzzing with optimism.
Eponymous London womenswear label Louisa Parris creates elegant ready-to-wear garments that blur the lines between clothing and wearable art—merging luxurious fabrics with abstract patterns.
Most Louisa Parris garments are developed to be one size, designed to flatter all body types and shapes, and leverage consistent cuts and styles each season. Rather than conforming to the 4-season fashion calendar, Louisa observes a slow fashion model of two collections a year, numbered for simplicity and timelessness.
We worked closely with the designer to create a new brand identity for the line that captures her unique sensibility. We sought to reflect the bold, graphic nature of her designs, introducing dynamism into typography, imagery, and communications.

At this time of year we often send our friends, clients and partners something to say thank you for the year—a bottle of wine, some chocolates, you know the deal.
But this year we decided to do something different. We decided to share some good news.
As 2022 wraps up, it would be all too easy to fall back on pessimism after all we’ve been through the past couple of years. But we remain steadfast in our positivity. To us, design is about envisioning better. We believe the world needs optimism, inspiration and creativity to solve problems. Our optimism about the future directly relates to the people we partner with and the work we take on.
So we published The Optimist — a “good news-paper” to shine a light on some of the innovations, advancements, and achievements that we’ve taken notice of in 2022. These stories hail from the worlds of visual culture, technology, social justice, and beyond. Some of the accounts you’ll find within the pages are vast in scale (new vaccines, ambitious sustainability programs) and some are zoomed-in stories of everyday joys and triumphs (a boy reunited with his missing teddy bear, a tortoise that served as a very slow ring bearer at a wedding). A few of our favorite 2022 news stories are downright silly. Each of these stories reflects our ethos–the spirit behind what we do. At Manual, we celebrate optimism. We believe in collaborating to uplift one another and the design community as a whole. We believe in the power of hope. As we take this time to celebrate all the good that came out of 2022, we can’t help but look forward.
Oh and that gift to our clients? In lieu of the extra alcohol and sugar this year, we made contributions to two organizations doing critical work that we value. Planned Parenthood and Southern Poverty Law Center.
Thanks to all our clients and collaborators for another rewarding year.
Here’s to 2023, and to all the good news that lies ahead.
Onwards,
Manual
