That's what I call a great Saturday night. Thx Todd for the reco.

In the heart of Champagne's famous Côte des Blancs, in the medieval village of Vertus, lies Maison Guy Larmandier. This unique family-run winery retains its know-how and authenticity.

The winery was founded in 1976 by Guy and Colette Larmandier. Since 2000, François and Marie-Hélène have carried on their father's legacy with Colette. Maison Larmandier offers Champagnes that retain their character and authenticity. A harmonious blend of different years, a true expression of the winemaker.

Champagne Pertois-Moriset
Delicious tonight. Fabulous nose and body. I think I got this one from my club at

Made from both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, harvested from the slopes of the Marne, this champagne is fresh
and delicate. It is ideal for pre-dinner drinks, or simply for discovering the house style of this wonderful grower-
producer in Champagne.

The Soil:
- Coteaux Sézannais
- Sézanne, Barbonne-Fayel, Chantemerle, Bethon, Montgenost
- Natural grassing in winter, partial ploughing in summer

The Wine:
- 50% Pinot Noir et 50% Chardonnay
- Completed malolactic fermentation
- Vinification of the wines of the year in stainless-steel tanks
- Blend of 70-80% of the wines of the year
and 20-30% perpetual reserve wines
- Reserve wines aged in big oak and stainless-steel tanks

The Bubbles:
- Minimum aging in the cellar 15 months
- Current dosage at 1 g/l of sugar
- Production available in bottles (750ml), magnums (1500ml),
and jeroboams (3000ml)

Situated in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne Pertois-Moriset, has from the beginning been a family business and independently owned. Grower-producers: each new generation has been nourished through the tradition and the knowledge of the vine and the wine of those who came before.

Stunning Estate at Donum. The art is so different across the property. Many of the pieces commissioned just for the estate. We appreciated our host's do understanding of the art and the wine.

We kicked off the holiday weekend yesterday with a fabulous afternoon at The Donum Estate in

Featured here is their 2017 vintage. Faves of the day were the Russian River Valley and the Carneros .

The art I'll show you in another post. Hats off to our host John and the team at Donum. We'll see you soon.

Words can not describe fully the awe and appreciation we had for this beautiful, storied place
Château de Chenonceau is a French château spanning the river Cher, near the small village of  Chenonceaux.
Get out the popcorn got this story 🍿
An architectural mixture of late Gothic and early Renaissance, Château de Chenonceau and its gardens are open to the public. Other than the Royal Palace of Versailles, it is the most visited château in France.
The Marques family
In the 13th century, the fief of Chenonceau belonged to the Marques family. The original château was torched in 1412 to punish the owner, Jean Marques, for an act of sedition. He rebuilt a château and fortified mill on the site in the 1430s. Jean Marques' indebted heir Pierre Marques found it necessary to sell.
Thomas Bohier
Thomas Bohier  Chamberlain to King Charles VIII of France, purchased the castle from Pierre Marques in 1513 and demolished most of it. Bohier built an entirely new residence between 1515 and 1521. The work was overseen by his wife Katherine Briçonnet, who delighted in hosting French nobility, including King Francis I.
Diane de Poitiers
In 1535 the château was seized from Bohier's son by King Francis I of France for unpaid debts to the Crown. After Francis' death in 1547, Henry II offered the château as a gift to his mistress, Diane de Poitiers, who became fervently attached to the château along the river. In 1555 she commissioned Philibert de l'Orme to build the arched bridge joining the château to its opposite bank. Diane then
oversaw the planting of the gardens.
Diane de Poitiers was the unquestioned mistress of the castle, but ownership remained with the crown until 1555 when years of delicate legal manoeuvres finally yielded possession to her. (She had the better garden!)
Catherine de' Medici
After King Henry II died in 1559, his strong-willed widow  Catherine de' Medici forced Diane to exchange it for the Château Chaumont. Queen Catherine then made Chenonceau her own favourite residence, adding a new series of gardens.Catherine spent a fortune on the château and on spectacular parties. In 1560, the first-ever fireworks display.

DON'T MISS this opportunity to see the National Theatre Live film production of King Lear with the incomparable Ian McKellan at the Bankhead Theater. Captured live from London’s West End, Jonathan Munby directs this contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s tender, violent, moving and shocking play starring Ian McKellen in an “extraordinarily moving portrayal” of King Lear.
