The recent nationwide study of more than 2,000 workers, helped paint a more complete picture of how first-time managers are impacting their teams. The survey revealed some startling results, showing that:

2️⃣ More than 33% of workers surveyed lacked motivation

The numbers don’t lie: traditional leadership programs don’t adequately prepare managers for leadership.
🔹 58% of people say they trust strangers more than their own boss.
🔹66% of managers are uncomfortable communicating with employees.
🔹84% of U.S. workers blame bad managers for creating unnecessary stress.
🔹67% of U.S. employees are disengaged at work, and roughly 70% of the variance in employee engagement depends on the manager.

No wonder it's tough to justify annual training budgets. In the context of these stats, it seems there’s little — if any — return. That’s because most programs focus on discipline-based skill sets, such as strategy development and financial analysis.
