One of our main mantras at Lotusland is an invitation to “move like yourself” in harmony with your body, mind and soul. For students newer to yoga or just beginning this may seem like a foreign instruction as we are so used to being told exactly what to do! One of the ways to listen to your body is to adapt the poses to meet you in the moment which is always changing is through the magic of yoga props! In this Saturday’s Yoga for Absolute Beginners Workshop, Tony, our prop master, will guide you though a two hour work/playshop to develop the perfect practice for YOU to incorporate these tools in any class you take. ✨BENEFITS OF YOGA PROPS FOR BEGINNERS✨ • help you understand your body’s unique range of motion, guiding you towards the ideal alignment for your body. • increase awareness of alignment and muscle engagement. • increase flexibility. • enable you to modify your practice in response to injury, pain or discomfort. • provide support as you explore new and more challenging postures • increase or decrease the intensity of a posesupport your body to minimise muscular effort, allowing you to hold restorative or yin poses for a longer period of time. Many of our Lotus grads begin teaching professionally right after graduation and go on to teach on the Lotusland schedule, mentor the teacher trainees and teach trainings in SF and abroad…many of whom had no desire to teach when they registered! Our training size is intentionally limited to 16 students for us to better support your personal path in a safe space where you will be challenged physically, inspired mentally and awakened spiritually. ⛈️Storm Repair & Temporary Closure Since our NYE flood, we’ve been trying to recover and assess the situation and the damage to assure our return to offering you dry and safe yoga classes, as water is still coming up from the floors. Unfortunately after the second storm, we learned today that there is too much water underneath our floors that has no way to drain or dry out, we have no choice but to bring up the floors to allow all the water to dry and and replace with brand new floors. We are so sorry to inform you that we will have to close our studio for another week while the floors get redone to make sure we completely address the issue and assure the safety of all of you. We plan to have doors open again on Monday, January 16th starting bright and early at 7am but until then we will be hosting our Lotusland Live classes on livestream daily with your favorite teachers and will make updates to our video library of classes. You can also sign up for any class and receive the link to practice anytime! We so regret any inconvenience or disappointment this unfortunate obstacle has been to your daily practice and plans but we cannot wait to open our doors to you in 10 days to recommit to our practices wholeheartedly!
