Welcome to Lotusland! Your sanctuary in the city devoted to celebrating all eight limbs of Yoga as a way of life for the purpose of a greater good.

Our classes are intimate and intentional and include sacred movement, meditation and mantra along with deep rest and reflection guided by Yoga's spiritual teachings to return to our true nature of being. You will find classes for all levels as well as workshops, trainings and retreats to serve the needs of your body, mind and soul, as well as our greater community.

Spend your Sunday evening Lotusland honoring the energy of the equinox by clearing space and slowing down the mind and body to land in a space of inner serenity and balance. In BREATHE + RESTORE Yael will guide you through restorative pranayama (breath techniques) to release stress and tension. We practice circulating our life-force and activating the parasympathetic nervous system to allow our bodies to move into a restorative state. In this gentle softening of the body we will reconnect to the original Self, our core energetic state. This will be followed by a

mantra (chanting) meditation to stimulate deep intuition and activate our senses.

The session will close with a deeply rejuvenating extended sound bath (30 minutes) including symphonic gong and chimes.

😁 Mercury is stationing direct and we’re so thankful to welcome a new moon in grounding, organized Virgo, on Monday🌚 After a few weeks of being shaken up and off kilter, we can now clean up our messes (and rooms) and get back to order and our regular scheduling with the blessings of our beloved Virgo sun and upcoming new moon and new month just as we honor the unofficial end of summer with Labor Day, post Burning Man.

With this forward momentum we can find motivation to come back to or begin projects, practices and routines that can support sustainable change and healing in our lives. Virgo asks us to take responsibility and accountability for our health through discernment with more focused attention to detail.

🌝We start the week off with cosmic bang with a full super blue moon in Aquarius 🌝Breaking that down: Full moons are always charged moments but when its a super moon it means its super close to the earth effecting us even more, blue moon means it’s a rare second full moon in the same month and in Aquarius/Uranus energy expect revolutions, upheavals and breakthroughs of some sort🫠No wonder August is supposed to have some the the most challenging astrology of the year with mercury in retrograde at the same time its like cosmic joke.

Abhaya mudra is the mudra of protection and fearlessness and perfect to practice today to cultivate inner strength and peace in the midst of the intense energies🫸🏽

Stand or sit comfortably.
Raise your right hand to shoulder level with the palm facing outward and fingers extended upwards.
The left hand can rest on the lap or thigh, or form a complementary mudra.
Keep the elbow slightly bent and relaxed.
Gaze softly at the horizon or close your eyes to internalize the practice.

Thank goodness Ati is back from Paris to start us off with her Core Flow at 9am Monday/Wednesday to cultivate the inner strength and centeredness necessary to get through tumultuous times and Danielle is back on Friday morning at 9am with Kundalini Yoga to harness our creative power and Chris will finish of the week’s exciting events with his grounding, balancing Jivamukti Yoga and healing sound bath to melt away any stress or tension. The medicine for this week is to ground the restless mind into to the body and moment, make regular practice your anchor, practice daily if you can even for 10 minutes, hydrate and nourish with healthy meals, don’t take on too much and practice protective boundaries as self care.

In Ayurveda, Yoga’s sister science of healing, our daily routines and rituals are called Dinacharya, a concept that looks at the cycles of nature and bases our daily routines around our particular constitution or personal dosha to help establish balance in our lives.

Ritucharya consists of seasonal routines to establish health and balance. Both bless us with ancient wisdom that ask us to take personal responsibility for our personal wellness and self-care and when aligned with the cycles of nature deepens our relationship with greater than ourselves.

Yoga unties both, union with our Selves and the world around us.

We’re still in the depths of fiery Pitta season so inflammation of all sorts abound, especially the skin, blood, digestive system and liver.

So chilling out through morning yoga, hydration and eating juicy fresh fruits and vegetables and staying away from spicy food, alcohol and meat are recommended. Spend time in nature, logging off social media or news that can arouse aggression or anything one to ignite our temper, grounding and regularity is the medicine to strengthen our immune systems, anchor our minds, bodies, nervous systems and lives for optimal physical, mental and emotional well being.

🌟A quick reminder since we’re a bit out of practice, the Covid surge is real with more folks in our communities testing positive so please stay home and practice virtually with us if you have any cold symptoms to support your own and each other’s health. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

🫶🏼 🫶🏼 This month were celebrating all the special qualities of Lotusland along the meaning behind symbols we chose for our murals like the story of the hummingbird and of course the Lotus.

Mudras are an integral part of Lotus Flow as yoga’s sacred sign language and bringing our spiritual practice to the most simple gestures in our fingers and lives. Mudras help us set intention for our practice and effect our minds, bodies and prana in powerful ways. The word Mudra is derived from the Sanskrit root, Mud, to bring Joy. These simple gestures are like sacred spells and can awaken the many different energy currents within us and bring us into contact with our consciousness. We can effectively engage and influence our body and our mind by bending, crossing, extending, or touching the fingers with other fingers to become cosmic conductors of our inner world conducting our energy inward and outward.

All month we’re celebrating the beauty and magic that is our Lotusland teaching team and their passions — their beautiful spirits and talents get to ✨SHINE✨ with special classes, bringing unique offerings to your sanctuary in the city!

We continued to honor this powerful New Moon in Leo with a special Wednesday night offering this week - Yin Yoga Sound Bath with Zoë & Chris 🌑🦁

There would simply be no Lotusland without Zoë and the grounding, loving Ta**us energy she brings to the slower-paced offerings. She is passionate about supporting people’s movement and mindfulness practice as a joyful, creative, and spiritual experience.

Yin Yoga is low to the ground poses held for longer periods of time with a focus on deep breathing to balance the energetic system, increase flexibility and look within. Long held nourishing and meditative Yin yoga postures will allow you to dive deep within the emotional body as Sound Bath with gongs and bowls stimulate deep healing of the nervous system.

Chris, who has been offering regular sound bath experiences to the Lotus community, brings such a light to every class, infusing compassion and his deep passion for the sound healing modality into every offering. He’s taken many trips to the Himalayas working with master teachers to bring the healing power of singing bowls to YOU ✨

This New Moon practice will be infused with a sound bath throughout and then will flow into a long-form sound bath for savasana using sound healing instruments including antique singing bowls from the Himalayas imbued with healing mantras. The frequency of the bowls create vibrational sound harmonics that impact the sympathetic nervous system by engaging the relaxation reflex, (and disrupting the pain reflex) creating an overall deep sense of well being, meditation and relaxation.

#🌚We’re starting the week with a big and bold new moon in Leo, and at Lotusland we’re setting big intentions for new beginnings as we turn 2 with a celebration with YOU on Sunday, August 11th 🥳

We’re also celebrating a new year for our kids as they head back to school and wish them all the best as they step into a new grade and parents get to find some structure again! We have expanded Our Community Yoga for Youth to two classes due to its wild popularity with Mondays at 4:15 - 5:10 for middle schoolers 10-14yr and Thursdays at 4:15 - 5:10 for elementary schoolers 6-9yr to learn and practice all the techniques of yoga including Asana, pranayama and Meditation, adapted to their age groups to have fun as they receive the benefits of a calmer, more focused mind and strong, flexible and healthy body and connection to spirit and nature. 🙌🏾 We’re feeling all the feels these days with big energies of excitement and fear and everything between along with some accompanying symptoms like stress, anxiety and sleeplessness that can lead to many physical disturbances.

Reiki to the rescue! Join us this weekend with our incredible teacher and healer for the opportunity to awaken to your own healing power and lead with love (it’s Leo ♌️ season after all) to get through these next few months and offer this peaceful practice to others.

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century and It’s based on the idea that we all have an unseen “life force energy” that flows through our bodies. A Reiki practitioner gently moves her hands just above or on the client’s clothed body, with the intention of reducing stress and promoting healing by encouraging a healthy flow of energy. Reiki therapy is a way of guiding energy throughout the body to promote the recipient’s self-healing abilities. The word “Reiki” is a combination of two Japanese words: “rei,” which means “God’s wisdom,” or “the higher power,” and “ki,” which means “life force energy,” Similar to Prana in yoga philosophy.

One of the main benefits of Reiki (which leads to a lot of other benefits) is stress reduction. Our bodies cannot heal when they’re in a stressed state all the time.
Reiki gives your body a break from the stresses of daily life, potentially helping relieve tension and return you to a state of relaxation. Once in this state, your body may be better able to heal any damage brought on by stress, injury, or disease. Reiki can invoke the parasympathetic response in our bodies and helps to support the autonomic nervous system toward a state of safety, rest, recovery, and ease.

🍎📓✏️ 🧘🏾‍♀️ Today we’re celebrating our amazing apprentice community class yoga teachers who passionately share their love of yoga as they put in their post Lotusland Yoga School hours 🙏🏽 Along with seasoned teachers offering their classes to serve our community through $0-$15 donations, our newest teachers bring their fresh perspectives and positivity to every class as they prepare to be on the permanent schedule with the encouragement and feedback of one of senior teachers in every class.

This is one of our stand out offerings of our 200 Hour Teacher Training, the actual teaching right after graduation for those students ready to share their love of all they have learned over the course of 4 months. Teaching is an integral part of the program to connect to the true self and cultivate courage and confidence in who we are.

Many of our beloved teachers, even the inspiring Zoe and Tony, did not have the interest or intention to teach when they registered for Yoga School years ago! But our rich and deep program of devotion and discipline, taught by our expert teachers, arouses the natural urge and joy to share the profound art and science of yoga through cultivating a personal daily practice.

Come experience their classes as they shine through putting their hearts and souls in every class and you too may be bit by the teaching bug 😉 as they pass the torch to you! Registration is now open for our 2025 Yoga School Program beginning January 23rd - May 17th
