There are many paths to getting up off of the floor gracefully. Diane working on getting up off of the ground (aka a burpee) with only the use of one arm and one leg. Polio has robbed most of the function of the other limbs. There is always a way to be better.

No arms? No problem. As a polio survivor, Diane has some significant weakness in her arms that can make it difficult to hold weight while squating. Solution: heavy chains over the shoulders. This solution has been so successful that she now wears the chains all day as a fashion statement.

Adaptive athletes, just like all of us, need a place to be vulnerable to try new things. "Obviously we are going to get tired and sweaty .... but this class is really about finding your current level and challenging yourself to get a little vulnerable"
