Interesting Facts about Golden Gate Bridge🌉

Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most famous and definitely one of the most visited places not only in California, but in the entire USA🇺🇸

Today we would like to share with you some interesting facts about Golden Gate Bridge🌁👇

• The Golden Gate Bridge is Not Named for It’s Reddish-Orange Color

The bridge is named after the Golden Gate Strait, which is the entrance to the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean.

How did the strait get this name?👇

John C. Fremont was an Army major-general and explorer, who came through the strait on an expedition in 1846.
The entrance to the bay reminded John of the Golden Horn of what is now Istanbul, and he wrote that it’s a “golden gate to the trade with the Orient”

• The Golden Gate Bridge weighs 840 Million Tons😱

• The Bridge Has Only Been Closed 8 Times:

🔸 Three times due to high wind in 1951, 1982 and 1983
🔸 One construction closure in 1975 for cable replacement
🔸 For the 50th and 75th anniversaries, the bridge was closed for cars, but opened to pedestrians
🔸 Two closures for visiting dignitaries: FDR and Charles de Gaulle

• No horses on the Bridge🙅🏻‍♀️🐎

In fact, in 2009, the CHP had to stop a horseback rider who was sauntering down the Golden Gate Bridge sidewalk.

• It was opened for public in 1937

The bridge was first opened for public and vehicles on May 27, 1937. At that time, this was the longest and the tallest suspension bridge in the world.

During the opening day, at least 200,000 people crossed the bridge.

4 Tips How to Pick Perfect Wine for Dinner🍷

• Consider the Occasion

We all know that choosing the perfect wine for dinner involves the menu, right? But before the menu, you need to think about the occasion you’ll be drinking it. If it is small party with friends, or business meeting, or gala dinner. If it is something casual, or something sophisticated. Where you event will be taking place, who are your guests, what is the format of your event. All of these things matter when you are picking a right wine.

• Light or Heavy?🤔

When picking the wine, you want to match the intensity of the food with the intensity of wine. You would never pair a steak with light rose, it would go great with a Cabernet Sauvignon. In general, lighter meals with lean protein pair well with white wine, fattier foods and read meat go best with red wine, sweeter dish matches with a sweet wine, salty dishes with highly acid or sweet wines.

Wanna know about paring wine with foods? Leave us a reaction in comments below😉👇 And we’ll share a post-guide.

• Sweetness

Is a major consideration for wine pairing. Remember the rule, you wine should always be sweeter than the dish, in other case it will just taste bone dry. Three most common sweet wines are: Moscato, Gewürztraminer, and Riesling. They are a perfect match with deserts, cheeses and spicy dishes.

• Match the Sauce

It is essential to pair a wine with the main protein of a dish, but it’s no less essential to match it to the sauce. Sauce is one of the most important parts of any dish. And if your wine goes well with the main protein, but does not match with the sauce, you fail. For example, fatty marinated duck pairs with young tannin Bordeaux, Californian Cabernet and Merlot, as well as some white wines like Alsace Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris. Duck with apples and oranges with sweet sauce will go best with some sweeter whites like Riesling Auslese and Sautern. Same protein, but two completely different sauces, and as a result, differ wine choices.
