Frolic
Frolic is furry. Frolic is nightlife. Where furries and nightlife converge, you have Frolic, happening every 1st Saturday in San Francisco.
Been working on a new dance music performance thing. Basically addressing 2 things:
1. How to make a dance event more interactive
2. The most requested/popular genre of music at any event is always retro (turns out people enjoy hearing songs they know).
So basically, I came up with an idea that has someone from the audience spin a wheel, that lands on a year in the past, then a dice is rolled to see how many tracks from that time get played. Then boom, mini track set, until the next spin and roll.
No way to pre-plan this out. They key has been organizing the music, and making sure I have enough of every range that if it lands there multiple times, I have enough, oh, and that it’s all mixable and danceable.
Will be trying this out at Frolic on Saturday from 8pm-9:30. So if it sounds like fun, come up and watch me try it out. I’m sure to mess up w bunch, which will make it even better!
In 2 weeks (Sat, June 8th), Frolic will be returning. Come early to check out a new performance by NeonBunny at 8pm. The Time Warp uses the audience to pick different eras to explore the history of dance and club music!
Have a special someone you’ve been wanting to let know? We got ya. Look for our valentine creation station at Frolic on Saturday, write a special note and share how you feel. It’s all about sharing your VD love!
What are some of your favorite/regular drinks you or your friends order when you go up to a bar? Help us put together a menu for Frolic!
So we’d previously announced our 2024 dates, but not all as we were waiting on one furry con to confirm their fall dates. Now that the have, we can confirm Frolic will be every even month (2, 4, 6, 8, 12), on the Second Saturday.
Frolic 2024 Dates:

THE RETURN OF THE STUD Help San Francisco's oldest q***r bar secure a new home!
Starting on Saturday, August 12, Frolic will be at a new venue. The Folsom Street Foundry.
We are really excited for this move, and moving to a much larger nightclub, will allow us to expand and do some things we've been wanting to do for years to improve your experience.
Here's a few of the things we and the venue have planned:
Larger fursuit changing space
Free coat and bag check (even fursuit bins)
Large dance floor + large quieter hangout space with furniture
Guest tables for other fandom events
Food available for purchase
Happy hour from 7-9pm
New NOTAFLAF policy (No One Turned Away From Lack Of Funds - If you can't afford Frolic, we still want you to come, email [email protected] to be added to the guest list for that event).
Plus more to come!
IMPORTANT NEWS UPDATE:
Yes, the rumors are true. Frolic will be moving to a new venue, known as The Folsom Street Foundry.
If you’ve been to Frolic any month recently, you’ll noticed that it is always crowded, often times over capacity. No way around it, we’ve outgrown the space, and it’s time to move on to a larger venue.
We realize that change is not easy, and some people have some concerns about the new venue. We’ve listened to your concerns and will address them below.
When we started Frolic back in 2010, our goal was always to be a nightclub event, and that’s why we picked our favorite dance club at the time. Well, The Stud eventually went away and we moved to a bar down the street that wasn’t quite a dance club, but we made do. We now have an opportunity to move to a very up and coming dance club in San Francisco, The Folsom Street Foundry, located in the same neighborhood as The Eagle and The Stud.
With this move, there will also be some other changes that we will be making in order to create an even better experience than we have ever been able to create before.
Some concerns that were brought up from the last event we held at the Foundry:
• Fursuit changing room size. We plan to double or even triple the size of our fursuit lounge than what we have ever had before, as well as make some other improvements.
• Volume. We plan to keep the dance floor and hang out space at different volume levels. Some of you might want to dance, but others may want to hang out and have a conversation, which is already difficult in fursuit.
• Drink prices. We spoke with the Foundry about this, and will be able to have happy hour prices for the opening hours of Frolic. As well it’s worth noting that the Foundry caters to both the club crowd and upscale drinking crowd. While they have levels of liquors other bars would never carry this does not mean they
also do not have well drinks that are the lower cost basic drinks priced the same as other clubs/bars, but may not be on their menu. The drink specials in particular are specialty craft cocktails made with high end ingredients, not boozy bulk drinks made with the cheapest stuff.
July 8th will be our last Frolic at the Eagle. August 12th will be our first event at the Folsom Street Foundry.
Additional details will be announced closer to our move. Stick with us, and we promise we’ll take Frolic to the next level!

As things slowly get back to normal, we'd love to hear from our DJs out there!
Have you dj'd Frolic in the past? Still live in the Bay Area? Still DJ? Let us know!
New to DJing or a DJ new to the Bay Area, and a part of the furry scene? Let us know that too!
We're building up a list of djs for the future Frolic for after the pandemic when things get back to normal!
Post here, or send us a message (or even better one to NeonBunny)!
Somehow we got caught up in life, and failed to realize that last Saturday was out 11th anniversary of the first Frolic.
Not the 11th anniversary of having Frolic, as our 10th anniversary was the last Frolic we did, not knowing the world would quickly change to one where no nightlife events existed for over a year.
But, we do plan to start up Frolic again, we're just waiting for you all to get vaccinated so we can knock this virus out of existence!
