We need to advocate for significant financial aid or we and our industry will not survive this crisis. Help us encourage:
• Gavin Newsom to enact an order that would forgive rent for all small businesses in California during the lockdown.
• Congress (House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, Dianne Feinstein, Scott Wiener, Senator Mitch McConnell, Senator Chuck Schumer) to include a rent and mortgage moratorium for small business in the next wave of disaster relief aid
• Equity Residential (Equity Residential) to do the right thing by offering rent abatement to their small retail tenants.

The interests of our greater community have always been our top priority. So, with a global pandemic, it wasn’t a hard decision to close our doors in the interest of the public good; to put people above profits.
Luckily many of our vendors have been very supportive with forgiven and reduced payments, much compassion, and a lot of understanding. We’ve found other small businesses, who are themselves suffering, to be the most supportive.
To our great disappointment, the largest, most valuable company we work with, our landlords, Equity Residential (worth $21.2 billion), have not offered the same courtesy. They’ve offered to defer 4 months of rent.
This is less than a bandaid, it’s a trap for small businesses like us to accumulate more debt, while big landlords only accumulate more wealth, all at the cost of the community, public health, and the greater good.
We are calling on you to take action and ask Equity Residential and Gavin Newsom for an immediate rent and mortgage freeze.
Please see our website www.winedownsf.com for more information.
Wine Down - Wine & Beer Bar Wine Down is a wine and beer bar in the SOMA area of SF that serves awesome, local wine and beer
In the interest of the greater good, we will close to the public for the time being.
We hate closing our doors to the community, especially during such difficult and uncertain times, but we truly hope the measures we're taking collectively will slow down the spread of the virus so we can all get back on our feet soon.
With your support, we'll be here to drink up with you when we're able to open again. We can't wait for the wine to start flowing again soon!
In the meantime, we've been getting a lot of questions from people who want to know how to support their favorite women-owned small business from afar. Thank you for that! Please check out our website (www.winedownsf.com) to buy Wine Down. Drink Up! gear, takeout bottles, and gift cards.
Thank you for your continued support. Stay safe, be good to each other, and remember to support local small businesses whenever you can.
