The Santa Clara County Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) invites United Low Rider Council SJ to participate in a Transit-Oriented Communities Grant Pre-Application Workshop. The grant opened on April 1, 2023 and the deadline is May 22, 2024.

VTA’s Transit-Oriented Communities Grant Program seeks proposals from municipalities, jurisdictions, arts, culture, education, nonprofits, and other community organizations. The grants support VTA’s vision of creating equitable Transit-Oriented Communities around stations. If you’re interested in learning more about the grant program, including eligibility requirements, please visit vta.org/TOCgrant.

The grant program areas include:
· Planning and Policy Implementation
· Community Resilience
· Education and Engagement
· Placemaking, Arts, and Activation

Applicants must attend a pre-application workshop before applying. At each workshop, staff will review the guidelines and demonstrate the online application process.

I’m reaching out to all my car and truck people. I need as many cars as I can get this Saturday April 20th for Touch A Truck car show for The Coastal Kids Home Care. We did it last year and it was a great turnout. I need cars to meet me in the back parking lot of The San Jose Historical Park at 635 Phelan Ave. San Jose,
95112 . Everyone who brings a car gets in free. You can bring your own canopy, chairs, food and water.
They will have Food, Music, Games and other Vendors there. All the people will be sitting in the park and we will start the parade at 12:00. We will drive in the park wave to all the kids then park our cars along the grass and then you can set up your area. We can not leave till 4:00 once everyone is out of the park. So please if you can’t stay till 4:00 don’t get upset if want to leave early and we tell you that you can’t.
Remember this is for the kids and families to let them know they are not forgotten but Loved by the community

🎉 Heads Up: Cinco de Mayo Weekend in San Jose! 🎉

As we gear up for an exciting Cinco de Mayo weekend, let’s ensure we prioritize safety and respect for our city. San Jose Police Department (SJPD) has outlined plans to mitigate violent crime and sideshow activity, making it a safe and enjoyable holiday for everyone. SJPD aims to create a safe environment for living, working, visiting, and celebrating cultural events like Cinco de Mayo. Historically, San José attracts large crowds for this holiday, with similar expectations for 2024. The city, alongside community organizations and officials, will host multiple sanctioned cultural events throughout the city.

👉🏽 If you decide to go out cruising, here’s what you need to know:

• SJPD will be actively patrolling to maintain safety.
• Respect street closures and traffic laws.
• Ensure your cars are legally registered and operated responsibly.
• Sideshow activities and reckless driving are not tolerated. Drivers participating in sideshows can expect $3,000-$4,000 in fines and a 30-day impound of their vehicle. Sideshow spectators can be issued citations or arrested, and face fines up to $1,000.
• If you come to San Jose to cause trouble, folks will face consequences for their actions; such behavior is not tolerated and has no place in our city.
• Streets may periodically close to manage traffic flow.

🚨PLEASE READ:
👉🏽 Street closures on the first map are for several Cinco de Mayo events happening on both Saturday and Sunday. Cinco de Mayo parade is coming back to San Jose!
👉🏽 A DIVERSION means: SJPD has a plan of action in case the streets get crazy and they need to crowd control. This does not mean they are doing a full closure of city streets unless they absolutely need to.

Let’s celebrate responsibly and make this Cinco de Mayo weekend memorable for all the right reasons!
