Thought I would post something different, because I think I know what dogs are thinking. 😂

✨ This is a great way to work on your dog’s leash manners around distractions like humans, kids and dogs.

✨ Please give the pups and their humans space and do not let your dog go up to anyone or their dog/dogs, because this is a great opportunity to work on all of our dog’s impulse control around other dogs on leash.

✨ The goal is to help your dog practice being calm on leash with other dog’s working towards the same goal.

✨ Great way for you to build more confidence walking your dog in public!

WHERE: Pruneyard in Campbell and will meet outside in the parking lot by Bank of America. The cross streets are bascom Ave and E Campbell Avenue. Look for me, but can text me if you don’t see me. I will stand on the corner of Bank of America out of the way of the entrance if they are open.

✨Let’s do this! Hope to see everyone there!✨

🤔 Why do I dogs roll around in the grass, on our beds, couches or carpet?

Because they are trying to leave their scent in that area. 🤷‍♀️

It is one form of marking, but it also does feel good for them to rub their back on something!

Have you ever noticed after you bathe your dog they try to rub themselves on everything? This is because they don’t like that you changed their scent and want to smell dirty again 😂

Dogs are weird, but there is so much weirdness to love! 💗

🎉 Saturday’s Pack Walk was so much fun! 🎉

🐾 Pack walks are the best way to train your dog around other dog distractions and the best part about them is…they are FREE to W&P members! 🙌

👋 Let’s chat about rules and freedom on leash.

👉 If our leash trained pup is able to:

1️⃣ Be neutral around distractions without pulling, barking & lunging

2️⃣ Can walk without constant leash tension & fixation

3️⃣ Acknowledges & provides engagement to the one holding the leash

👉 Then your dog should be able to get less rules where they can sniff more & walk ahead.

❗️BUT❗️

👉 Your dog should know when you have transitioned from structure to unstructured walk.

What does that mean❓

👉 Means we need to provide clear communication! Communicating when they need to heel by stopping and having them sit first, then saying “Let’s go” or whatever command your dog has been taught to heel.

👉 Then when it’s time for your dog to be out of that structured heel, we clearly communicate the transition by stopping, having our dog sit & then say “break”.

The break que communicates that they have less rules and can walk ahead and sniff.

❌ Break/free rules:

1️⃣ Absolutely no tension & no pulling on leash. If there is constant pulling while in a break/free and your dog doesn’t acknowledge you holding the leash then you may need to go back to basics.

2️⃣ And of course, our leash is our way of communicating. If your dog tries to go up to a distraction you do not want them to, then use that leash to communicate for them to leave it. If needed, transition back into structure if they cannot handle the freedom.

👉 This pack walk we transitioned from having our dogs in structure and out of structure on leash, which they all did AWESOME! 👏

So proud of Gus, Buddy & Peach, but most importantly their owners and their great commitment to their dog’s! Shout out to Allyson, Karli & Abby! 👏👏👏

If my space is clean and organized, I feel clear headed and positive. If my space is dirty-I feel cluttered and anxious. It is so important for our home to be clean, not only for us, but for our dogs. Less stuff for them to get into!

Grounding, meditation and intention setting has so much power when you have an anxious dog or reactive dog. This will protect our energy and anxiety with our dog on our walks or in the home.

Stay tuned for how to set intentions, ground yourself and meditate! This may be self-care, but it is also going to help you have a better relationship with your dog!

Photos from Wag & Paw Training's post 01/23/2024

Our dogs can be masters of several things! Especially good at knowing how to p**s us off sometimes. 😂

When I get frustrated, I have to remove myself so I can process why I am feeling this way. This helps any relationship. Of course, if you are removing yourself from another human, be kind to say you just need a moment to process. 😉

Our dogs watch all of our actions and reactions. It is our job to show them what a calm leader looks like. When we yell, have bad energy or grab their collar, we are not only letting our dogs down, but we are letting ourselves down.

01/18/2024

👉We get so busy with the hustle lifestyle and forget to slow down, recharge our energy and ground ourselves.

Life gets so busy due to juggling family, dogs, social life, mental health, physical health, finances and chores that we forget to take a moment of quiet solitude.

And…ADULTING IS HARD! Even though I’ve been on my own for 16 years, it is still hard. I don’t remember any adult telling me life gets easier once you’re adult. In fact, I specifically remember them telling me to enjoy being a kid as long as possible. 🫢

I booked myself a week off and I actually decided to not go anywhere. I listened to my body so I can focus on some spiritual inner work to clean my energy and focus on letting go of grief and heal past wounds. And I’m working on some business stuff that requires a laptop! 🙌

My dogs help me out so much and give me what I need emotionally and I have to make sure to give them what they need emotionally as well. This is only possible if I am taking care of my emotional and physical needs. 💫

✋ So if you’re reading this, this is a sign to take some time off to rest, recharge and ground yourself. If you have dogs, do this with them. Two days off a week sometimes is not enough and we need to listen to our bodies and energy to become a stronger and brighter version of ourselves that each of us can be. If you cannot take time off, try to sit in silence without your phone or any devices and just be. A moment is better than nothing. 💖

Woo woo Lara out! ✌️

I’ll be honest here, I struggle mentally in the winter. It gets dark early. My body is very sensitive to the cold. If the sun isn’t out at all, I become sad.

I thrive on the sun! ☀️

But I have to get up and work and some mornings IT IS HARD!

Dogs force me to be outside and in nature. They force eco-therapy on me. AKA nature therapy, which is very rejuvenating and healing.

One place I always feel like I belong is in nature. I found belonging in dogs and in nature. We always feel like we belong with our dogs, right?

If we belong with our dogs, dogs belong in nature and nature naturally heals us.

We get busy with making money to survive, distracted by our screens to unwind and some days, just not enough time. It’s hard to get our dogs out in nature and public to where it is relaxing.

Training and being able to decompress in nature is one of the best ways to bond with your dog! However, sometimes being out in nature with our dogs can be the opposite of relaxing.

Your dog may pull your arm off or you don’t trust your dog enough to be off leash and explore.

Does that sound right?

We can help with that. Whether it be day training so your dog get out more on leash or it be board and train so your dog can be safely reliable off leash-we cover it.

This is Arjun! Arjun did our Proper Pup program and upgraded to our Amazing Pup program so we could help his owners have more adventures together without the stress of him reacting or running off. He’s been trusted off leash now, because now he has a reliable recall and ignores distractions like dogs, people and squirrels! He hasn’t graduated yet, but proud of his progress and his owners hard work! 👏👏👏

We had the BEST Woofmas this year! It was filled with lots of love, treats and calm doggie energy. 💫🎄🍖

Happy holidays to you and your pups!

Photos from Wag & Paw Training's post 12/09/2023

Having your dog properly trained off leash is HUGE?

➡️ Why?

Because then you can relax since they understand recall and communication. Most importantly, you can keep them away and safe from other distractions like cars, dogs and humans since you have an invisible leash on them to communicate!

Happy graduation to Iris who just finished our Amazing Pup program! 🎉🎉🎉

She has overcome and accomplished so much with us and here are her recent off leash adventures she had while we used low levels on an device!

11/30/2023

Please arrive 5-10min early to find parking and to calm your dog down if needed. We are here to help set you and your dog up for success.

Please do not let your dog say hi to another dog nor try to say hi to a dog, because a lot of the dogs struggle with reactivity (or did!) and we want to help the dogs stay calm and relaxed. Please bring your training leash and we will be selling our leashes if you need another one.

These 3 ladies graduated as Proper Pup’s! 👏🎉🙌

➡️ All 3 of them struggled with pulling on leash, reactivity, lacked impulse control and needed their confidence boosted!

They spent 10 days in our home and were home over the weekend so their owners could be involved in the training.

All 3 of them have come such a long way and the most important part is that these ladies can now live a less anxious life inside and outside the home with their family. 🙌

They didn’t just spend 10 days with us and then go home where we won’t see them again.

👉Nope. They still have support virtually from the trainer and a total of 4 follow up in person lessons!

11/04/2023

Pack walk next Saturday, November 10th! 🙌

This event is free to anyone who has done a board and train or finished their private lesson packages.

Address is at:
O’Connor Park
1367 Auzerais Ave
San Jose, CA 95126

This park is very shaded and quiet with a few distractions. Great opportunity to work on your dog’s leash manners around people and other dogs. Can’t wait to see y’all!

I love these candid photos! 😂

So…

I have never met so many AMAZING people in 3 days as I did this past weekend. Not just saying that. I struggle with being around a lot of humans. Social anxiety that I’ve been struggling and working on for years.

I walked in Friday night like one of those anxious dogs that walk into a busy store and cornered myself into a corner, eyes wide and panting. Anxiously looking at all the humans.

But there was something different about this one. The energy was so good and each individual I spoke to was so open. Eventually I wasn’t that anxious dog anymore. I think that had a lot to do with how they set everything up, the energy of each individual and it was incredibly planned.

It was truly the best dog training seminar I have experienced and I am so grateful for and Brent and Mariano for putting this together. So many gold 🌟’s!

There was so much humility, openness and knowledge that these guys provided this weekend. My brain is still doing this…🤯!

I am still processing everything and starting to become more self aware of myself. I am SO excited to be better for your dogs and YOU. YOU the humans!

What made this seminar different was that it wasn’t just about the dogs. Every seminar I’ve been to has been about dog training and technique, ect. That’s great! There will ALWAYS be something new to learn about dogs and dog training, but there was not much training on teaching. Connecting. Not much about the dog’s humans. The owners. YOU. And that’s what I felt I needed more knowledge in and that’s what this seminar provided and much more!

It isn’t just about your dog. It is about you and your dog. 🤗 It is a package deal and I cannot express how excited I am to meet more or you and your dogs!

10/11/2023

Pack walk this month has been canceled, but will resume next month! Please keep a look out for the second week of November for time and place announcement.

Thank you for your support and hope to see you next month! 🤗

❓How do we approach puppy training❓

✅ LOTS of positive reinforcement, socialization, desensitization and exposure training!

Puppies don’t know right or wrong and if we teach them what is right constantly and don’t reward with petting, attention and food during naughty behaviors then they will learn faster.

Puppies are SO CUTE! It is so hard to not give affection to that cute little happy go lucky face. 🥹

Puppies need so much exposure to things in our world, because a lot of it is new! This will help socialize and build a confident dog that isn’t scared or anxious with sounds and sights.

Let us do the hard part for you. 😂

Our Puppy Day Training and Proper Puppy let’s you take a break and let’s us teach them how to grow up confident, happy and well mannered!

Except we will need you to be part of the training or else everything your puppy learned will go out the window. We teach you how to have consistency and clear communication. When to give your puppy food rewards, affection and attention.

Puppies are our favorites to train! One, they are just adorable and a free boost of seratonin and two, they are a clean slate. We can shape their good behaviors with praise and food and a puppy rarely if at all needs be corrected. They are learning and don’t forget, they are literally a baby!

When is the best age to start puppy training? As young as 8 weeks and the cut off is right at 6 months. 4 months is the ideal age where they learn a good foundation, but 8 weeks we can help them with desensitization and socialization sooner.

Congratulations to these two “Day Training” GRADUATES! 🎉🎉🎉

Butterscotch is an adorable Maltipoo that struggled with:

❌ Being a T-Rex where he was sooooo bitey! 🦖

❌ Pulled and barked on leash!

❌ Needed help associating the crate with it being his bedroom to nap.

❌ Didn’t know how to socialize with other dogs off leash.

❌ Lacked confidence. 😢

❌ Didn’t have much impulse control and needed help settling inside.

Quint is the handsome brindle mix and he struggled with:

❌ Leash manners and getting easily distracted when he saw lizards, squirrels and dogs!

❌ Impulse control.

❌ Leave it and learning how to interact properly around other dogs without being too pushy or crazy.

❌ Door manners and trying to escape out of the front door. 😬

❌ Barking and whining inside the crate.

❌ Liked to play “Catch me if you can” and not come when called.

➡️ What did they learn with us and with their pawrents? ⬅️

✅ Built a solid leash foundation where they understood leash communication and to not pull!

✅ Door manners and learned that when the door is open doesn’t mean they can pull or run out.

✅ Place training to build impulse control with jumping, overstimulation, boundaries and to fix boredom.

✅ Obedience to help them make better choices ➡️ Leave it, drop it, down and an improved sit with higher distractions!

✅ Crate training to help them get the naps they need so they aren’t a cranky toddlers.

✅ Built confidence by learning new things and how to properly interact and play with other dogs in a safe environment!

Day Training was supposed to be a limited time, but dogs did so well and we ended up LOVING IT! Clients loved that they didn’t have to have their dog gone overnight and got to see their pup tired at the end of the day.

If you’re looking for your dog to build a great foundation, confidence, manners and learn how to properly play with other dogs…this is the program for you!

DM, call, text or email for more questions or pricing!

Amazing Pup?

💯, YAAAAS! 🎉🎉🎉

I actually think I started following before I met her. I found her page and just loved that little face and posts. 🥰

After some time, her mom contacted me for training and I knew exactly who she was! Mallomi is not a common name, too. 😂

Mallomi and her mom have such a special place in my heart. I’ve seen her mom become a dog trainer herself and watched Mallomi overcome anxiety, resource guarding and reactivity! And those aren’t easy things for a dog to overcome.

All I can say is that I am one proud teacher of these two and happy to know Mallomi and her mom will have a happier and more balanced, relaxed life together!

🛑 Stop ✋ and imagine what your life would be like if your dog continued their naughty behaviors.

✨Now imagine what your life would look like if your dog learned how to make good choices and stopped all those unmanageable naughty behaviors.

✨This is Tobi!✨

He was A LOT when he first came to us and a little more manageable after his 10 days of Proper Pup training.

Think of the Proper Pup as our silver program that is like high school.

10 days and 3 in person appointments made him one Proper Pup for his pawrents, but what if we could get him to be Proper and Amazing?

So he went back to school to start college with us and graduated as an Amazing Pup!

🐾 What did he learn in college?

✅ Learned the art of doing nothing inside and what “Go lay down” means.

✅ 10/10 leash manners that didn’t take as much time to calm him down before going outside.

✅ Solid sit and down stay!

✅ Improved impulse control and more exposure to real-world situations and environments.

✅ Learned to auto heel when he saw a person or another dogs instead of barking or running at them.

✅ 10/10 confidence level!

✅ Can now be trusted off leash due to coming instantly when called!

✅ More FREEDOM to go on adventures and explore without the stress of him not listening or getting overly excited!

✅ Solid leave it.

✅ Unlimited amount of lessons with his teacher Lara to tweak anything or fix any regression! 🙌

Tobi’s progress was so cool to see and so proud of the things he has learned and overcome!

Did you know that your dog can be easier to communicate to and manage? With our help we can get your dog to be more neutral and relaxed in public and make your life with your dog stronger and happier!
