Physicians and Thoracic Surgeons from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan joined this program. Prof Felix Herth gave talks on late breaking IP advances, and Heidelberg experience in managing COPD and pulmonary nodules. Dr Anantham Devanand, Dr Carrie Leong, Dr. Nicole Sieow and SGH team shared Asian experience doing lung volume reduction with BTVA and Navigational Bronchoscopy with LungPoint VBN.

In-depth discussion with experts over patient selection and management from different prospects and hands-on session for both technologies were greatly appreciated by participants.

During 20th-23th Mar, 2019, Sino-India IP workshop and Congresses took places in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Dr. Bing Lam from HKSH hosted the InterV***r symposium and a TLVR (Targeted Lung Volume Reduction) procedure was demonstrated by him. Two lung segments were ablated using thermal v***r within 20 minutes, without any major complication.

Doctors from Taiwan, China Mainland, Macau, Hong Kong and India later participated the China Bay Area Nodule Management Forum in Guangzhou, hosted by Prof Shiyue Li. Thoracic Surgeons, Pathologists, Pulmonologists shared experience in early stage lung cancer from different region and different disciplines.

Access, Diagnose and Treat - Broncus in Broncocon 2019

During 8th-10th Feb, 2019, Broncus participated in the Broncocon 2019 Lucknow, India, the 24th National Conference of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology. More than 450 participants for scientific sessions and eminent faculties from across India were present.

Broncus demonstrated Navigation System & TLVR by V***r Ablation, respectively on the hands-on workshop day. Dr Karan Madan from AIIM Dehli and Dr. Anantham Devanand from Singapore General Hospital are the Star HCP took charge of these two stations.

In the next two days, Dr. Devanand presented “Navitation Bronchoscopy - EMN, LungPoint and SPiN - is There One “Best” Answer” and "Segmental volume reduction—STEP-UP for the thermal vapour ablation—The Search Continues”, sharing SGH’s experience on managing peripheral nodules using LungPoint and treating COPD patients using InterV***r.

This is the second year of Broncus in Broncocon, and Broncus continuously looks forward to serving Indian physicians and patients by introducing more advanced interventional pulmonology technologies to meet the unmet clinical needs, into this populated country.

New Era of Bronchoscopic Treatment for Lung Disease is Here Now
——Yunnan Cancer Hospital Initial Experience with Archimedes Navigation System

On 3rd Dec, 2018, Archimedes – Total Lung Access Navigation System was installed in Yunnan Cancer Hospital, the Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, China. Till 30th Jan, 2019, Yunnan Cancer Hospital has completed 75 bronchoscopic biopsy procedures using Archimedes. Among them, 33 cases were peripheral nodule sampling. Pathology showed that 21 cases were carcinoma, 2 cases were tuberculosis and 10 cases were inflammation.

Dr. Huang, who is the director of this hospital, said “Archimedes system has broken through the technical bottleneck of conventional bronchoscopy and increased the diagnosis yield from 30% to 70% in their hospital. Airway navigation without consumables truly helps patients to increase the chance of getting a positive diagnose while saving money.”

Archimedes, including BTPNA (Bronchoscopic Trans-Parenchymal Nodule Access), takes virtual bronchoscopic navigation to the next level by incorporating a novel approach to the peripheral lesions that airway sign does not present.

Dr. Huang also commented, “BTPNA enables us to provide various options to treat lung diseases such as tumor ablation, drug delivery. We believe this technique will tremendously benefit non-surgical patients by providing better care and quality of life.”
