Reviews: I just wanted to thank you for your time and sharing such valuable information with us. That was a really great course and I am looking forward to taking more with you guys in the future.
Hope you had a great stay in Tennessee!!
Best, Erin Chaffee
Thank you again for the course this past week. I am already translating what I learned into practice.
Just today I got a patient with a referral for ulnar nerve issues. He did not have his NCV/EMG results with him, but I proceeded with the testing we learned in class. When I got the results later that day after writing my evaluation, I realized all the potential compression points I identified with the ULTT were exactly what the NCV/EMG said! A. Sadasivaiah
It was a pleasure meeting you and absolutely love the course especially the practical training. I hope we can host your course again. Sincerely, M. Recker
I thoroughly enjoyed your course!. I learned so much and am excited to really dig in, look more proximally with greater confidence. Thank you so much. S. Hannemann.
What an excellent and informative course. I have many new things to add to my “tool belt” to help my patients. S. Cook, OTR, CHT
P.S. my new intern who was at the course and I saw a pt that was 3.5 mos post op wrist arthrodesis and pt reported she has had constant dorsal radial wrist pain since the surgery. History didn’t fit, we checked for RSN and did the treatments we learned this weekend and the pt had 0 pain in her wrist when we were done even though we did no direct tx in her wrist. She was so excited (as was the pt).

My brain and
heart divorced
a decade ago
over who was
to blame about
how big of a mess
I have become
eventually,
they couldn't be
in the same room
with each other
now my head and heart
share custody of me
I stay with my brain
during the week
and my heart
gets me on weekends
they never speak to one another
- instead, they give me
the same note to pass
to each other every week
and their notes they
send to one another always
says the same thing:
"This is all your fault"
on Sundays
my heart complains
about how my
head has let me down
in the past
and on Wednesday
my head lists all
of the times my
heart has screwed
things up for me
in the future
they blame each
other for the
state of my life
there's been a lot
of yelling - and crying
so,
lately, I've been
spending a lot of
time with my gut
who serves as my
unofficial therapist
most nights, I sneak out of the
window in my ribcage
and slide down my spine
and collapse on my
gut's plush leather chair
that's always open for me
~ and I just sit sit sit sit
until the sun comes up
last evening,
my gut asked me
if I was having a hard
time being caught
between my heart
and my head
I nodded
I said I didn't know
if I could live with
either of them anymore
"my heart is always sad about
something that happened yesterday
while my head is always worried
about something that may happen tomorrow,"
I lamented
my gut squeezed my hand
"I just can't live with
my mistakes of the past
or my anxiety about the future,"
I sighed
my gut smiled and said:
"in that case,
you should
go stay with your
lungs for a while,"
I was confused
- the look on my face gave it away
"if you are exhausted about
your heart's obsession with
the fixed past and your mind's focus
on the uncertain future
your lungs are the perfect place for you
there is no yesterday in your lungs
there is no tomorrow there either
there is only now
there is only inhale
there is only exhale
there is only this moment
there is only breath
and in that breath
you can rest while your
heart and head work
their relationship out."
this morning,
while my brain
was busy reading
tea leaves
and while my
heart was staring
at old photographs
I packed a little
bag and walked
to the door of
my lungs
before I could even knock
she opened the door
with a smile and as
a gust of air embraced me
she said
"what took you so long?"

Chronic Inflammation is a frequent cause of hand pain and wrist pain after 40. It is a systemic problem that needs a systemic approach for management. You got it, nutrition. This is a recipe of anti-inflammatory green juice I recommend to my patients before and after hand surgery, for CTS, osteo arthritis, trigger fingers for example. Lots of variations possible. In addition, stay away from dairy products, reduce sugar consumption and alcohol.

1 cup kale
a few cubes of pineapple (or apple) , chopped
2 tablespoons ginger, sliced

Water as needed

Food is Medicine.
“Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones.
But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal.
A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts, Mead said.
We are at our best when we serve others.”

Paper from Imperial College London published in December 2021 found that Omicron was five times more likely to reinfect people than the previously dominant Delta variant. https://apple.news/Aj365dZULSPeVaIUXaptQnQ
Welcome to the Great Reinfection — WIRED A repeat encounter with Covid used to be a rarity. But now that Omicron has changed the game, expect reinfections to be the new normal.
I was scheduled to go to England for the international hand therapy conference to moderate a session
However early morning at 4:30 am my son woke up with a seizure that lasted 20 mins
My daughter was already sick so I was up all night with her when I realized my son was warming up
I started doing cold compress on him
The reason I am telling you all this is because they are 13 months old
They cannot have vaccinations
Not wearing masks indoor is resulting in these number to skyrocket and the vulnerable people pay the price
If you are vaccinated you can still be a carrier
You will not get sick
We were negative but the kids where positive
And if u get exposed enough even the vaccination can’t protect you and it breaks through the barrier and infect you
Currently I am running a fever
My worry who will take care of my 13 month olds
So I beg please get vaccinated and wear a mask coz u just don’t know who you will be affecting and when u do wear it put it on properly or ear there is no point in wearing
Thank you
Happy Occupational Therapy Month to my Staff and colleagues

Santa Clara County nearly meets the metrics required to transition from its indoor masking mandate to a strong recommendation for masking indoors. Effective once the 7-day rolling average of cases is 550 or fewer for 7 consecutive days.

The State also requires universal indoor masking regardless of vaccination status in many settings, including all K-12 schools, childcare facilities, public transit, healthcare
facilities, shelters, jails, and long-term care facilities.
