Marcasite will never stop reminding me of my grandmother. She loved Marcasite jewelry. In fact, I'm lucky to have inherited a few of her pieces. An ornate watch, a beautiful cross, and a delicate ring. In my mind, Marcasite has always given off a feeling of mystery. A bit of magic maybe.

Abalone shell has such a sentimental attachment for me. It reminds me of my grandmother who used to have Abalone shells as big as my head strategically placed around her patio. (probably as ash trays), but to me they just looked both glamorous and earthy, my favorite juxtaposition.
So when I see pieces like this, that utilize the glamour of the shell and twist it to make it a bit funky, I get a little weak in the knees...
