Have you had the chance to explore one of our MAC gardens? Not only do they boast an array of delicious fruits, vegetables, and beautiful flowers, but you'll also discover delightful artwork sprinkled throughout. Phillip, a client in our Adult Program, crafted fun labels for the tomatoes and cucumbers in the AP garden. Our Garden Program Coordinator, Flo Fuller, and this Adult Program client just celebrated 30 years with Morgan Autism Center! They both started on July 5, 1994, and usually commemorate their anniversary by having lunch together at MAC. This year was extra special because they went out to lunch and coffee to celebrate and reminisce!
A few core memories our client shared included the good times on the playground, playing video games, going on lunch outings, and creating his very own coffee drink called the “foxaccino!” Flo helped him draw his foxaccino drink so the baristas could make it perfectly, and they did!
Congratulations to you both on your 30-year MAC anniversary!

Adult Program client Jason enjoys conducting regular checks on the Adult Program vans. Accompanied by a skills trainer, he checks oil levels and notes when the next oil change is due, inflates the tires, and ensures that the van is fully stocked with the supplies needed for daily outings. Thank you, Jason, for keeping our vans in good shape!

Jeff, a client from our Adult Program, has long admired Lou Ferrigno from the Incredible Hulk. As one of Jeff’s heroes, Ferrigno has sparked Jeff’s fascination with bodybuilding and the sport as a whole. Recognizing this interest, MAC staff member Steve began taking a group of clients, including Jeff, to the PE room for strength training exercises a few times a week. As if it couldn’t get any better, Steve introduced Jeff to a local bodybuilder who is a good friend of his.

Our amazing Speech Language Pathologists from Something to Say Speech Therapy created a fun event on Wednesdays at lunch time called friendship group. Students from different classrooms hangout over lunch and make new friends. This gives students a chance to socialize with students and staff outside of their own classroom.
SLPs provide visual supports, direct coaching for staff and intervention for students. Everyone is working on building relationships and social engagement in a functional setting. Each week there is a new suggested conversation topic and an additional activity - in this group they made friendship bracelets, the week before they shared silly jokes. Friendship groups are additional to our students' speech therapy services - our SLPs do it because they see the value in building friendships between students and because it's always fun.
