Day in the life with a bunch of dogs

Taking skills we had from #frenchring and applying it to #psa 1 scenarios.

I think this biting machine is finally taking the turn to be a sport dog. If you know Rabo you know how much work this has been to have this type of clarity and control around a decoy. Thanks @echo.zeus for coming out and lending a hand. Want some Rabo puppies?! Hit up @k9decoy98 for stud availability.

Let’s go!

I saw @bartandmichaelbellon post of Michael doing this with jack and I thought it was such a cool idea I had to try. We have been working on the back command for a bit now but Salem seems to favor one side and doesn’t go out as straight as I’d like. I’m hoping this exercise will help create power and clarity to the amount of backing I expect him to do while being as straight as possible. Thanks Bart and Michael for all the creative content:) The dog in the background isn’t quite sure why he’s not sprinting on the slatmill and Salem’s going so slow.

Here’s a clip to see what goes on in my pack work sessions. Here I’m working with a new pup that is fear aggressive towards other dogs. The main thing I’m working on in this session is giving him an experience where dogs are totally calm and in control. This will be a huge step towards him gaining confidence in this setting in the future Love my helper dogs, Phoenix has a really good sense of what is needed at a particular time for dogs. If he would have pushed the dog during the initial sniff the pup would have reacted but also the dog could have reacted from him “retreating” which is why it was perfect he decided to hold space before fully walking away. @venomgum @chelsea.ryan

This was towards the end of our session tonight since I didn’t really think to record till the end. It’s cool how much this dog has matured and I’m loving where we are in our training journey. She’s been an absolute blast to learn from and work with. We are starting to just nitpick our heeling and really make sure Rebel is fighting to stay in the right spot on my left side. I call this doodling and it’s a big part of my heeling system. I think it’s funny to watch Kota know exactly when she needs to do her own thing and when it’s her chance to get her ball thrown.

Challenging what Riley knows by adding some environmental distractions into the mix. This is the only good use of a dog park.

Typical day here at B2BK9. Lots going on but still calm and productive.

I never post this kind of stuff mainly because of the criticism this type of training can get. I’m the first one to tell you I don’t know everything and I still have a lot to learn but this is how a run my pack time. I find in order for dogs to play and enjoy each other’s company they also need to understand how to communicate with both handlers and other dogs in the group. Here’s a little dog language both from me and from the dogs. I wanted to highlight ways I tone down specific dogs in the group. The puppy Remy is just learning how to take in communication from me so I make it easy and just ask for the start of acceptance. Diamond came in with more serious issues with dogs so I’m taking my time to fully cycle her down when I feel the need to. If you have any questions or would like to have a discussion on things you either agree, disagree, or have no clue on. I’m all about having a productive conversation. I am not posting this to prove myself and do not plan on trying to convince you of anything. Thankful for my helper dogs @the.bboyz @million_dollar_rescue_dog @elamfam @bic.please

Starting to show rebel what Au Pied is over the hand touch and working on pivoting in that way. She’s almost to the point where we can start doodling but this will be an important first step before we can move off the touchpad and doodle around. I’m forever greatful for this girl and what’s she’s taught me thank you for trusting me with her. @lucky_dog_pet_services

Some rebel progress This girl has been so much fun to bring up. Really happy with the progress we have made in the last few weeks.
