🔥On Wednesday afternoon, July 3rd, in the middle of the heat wave, someone set off fireworks on Park Street behind the rear yard of the nursery. The sparks caused a fire with 30 foot flames that destroyed our back fence along with many wooden pallets and some mulch.

🙏Thankfully, our whole team was safe as everyone had left the nursery a few hours earlier when we closed at 1:30pm due to the heat's impact on our operations. We are beyond grateful that nobody was harmed or injured.

🚒Because of the quick response from both the Alameda County Fire Department and the Oakland Fire Department, there was no significant damage to our buildings or our inventory. We want to publicly thank these firefighters👩‍🚒🧑‍🚒👨‍🚒 for the amazing job they did to contain the blaze, and express our sincere appreciation to all first responders who were on the scene.

💚The good news is that the nursery will be fine. There's obviously a lot of clean up work ahead in the coming days, but we are feeling extremely lucky right now. This all could have been so much worse.

🌼We plan to be open regular hours during the holiday weekend assuming that the temperatures continue to cool down so that our staff can work safely. If this changes for any reason at all, we will post it on our social media feeds and adjust the hours on our Google business profile.
