My name is Mariah Ramos. I am 16 years old, and I will be a sophomore at San Luis Obispo high school. I am a member of the San Luis Obispo FFA chapter, and I am raising a pig for the 2023 California mid-state fair. This will be my second year showing with the San Luis Obispo FFA chapter but my 5th year showing at the California mid-state fair. I purchased a 60 lb. crossbred barrow (his name is duke) in late February early March and for the past few months leading up to mid-state I've been feeding, walking and bathing since I've had gotten my pig home. Through being involved with my project and FFA, I have learned very important skills such as commitment, responsibility, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Showing has been a huge part of my life for the past 6 years. I have grown and learned a lot along the way. I have had an amazing past 6 years. I have met many great and amazing families that always rush to help and I have grown a strong family bond. They are so much more than people I show with they are my family. I had the greatest opportunity to have been able to win the grand supreme market hog last year and I have learned and done so many things that I didn't even know or think I was capable of doing Outside of Midstate I show pigs year-round it's called jackpotting. Jackpotting has given me so many opportunities to learn and grow.

By buying my pig you will let me expand on growing not only my opportunities but my knowledge so that one day I will be able to pass that knowledge onto others to help them expand their own knowledge and grow their confidence like I am. I am writing this letter to ask for your interest in purchasing my pig at the livestock auction at the fair. Buying my pig will allow me to expand not only my showing but my growth as an individual. By purchasing my pig, it will allow me to be able to expand not only my search for pigs but will allow me to get new equipment to make my pigs and future pigs healthier, happier, and better. The auction will be held on Saturday July 29th at the paso fairgrounds. I will be using the money earned from the sale of my animal to go towards future pigs and new equipment. Your support would be greatly appreciated whether buying my pig or giving me an add-on.
