First X: The first time only happens once
I have some exciting news! My independent short film "First X" is being warmly welcomed by national and international film festivals! We will be premiering the film in New York on October 7th at the "Voices Rising Film Festival" followed by a Q&A and then again in early December at the Equality International Film Festival in Hollywood. I am so proud of this film because it normalizes the sexuality and romantic interests of an individual with Down syndrome. It's so important to see people with Down syndrome as wanting the same things out of life as anyone else. Ultimately to experience romantic L-O-V-E! It was an honor to provide the keynote speech at the San Mateo County Transition to Independence Fair for individuals with disabilities who are transitioning from high school to adulthood. It's a great place to learn about all the options available to support their next steps on the journey. For each person, that journey is unique and the regional centers and service provider staff are there to help you discover the best path for you! It could be college, it could be employment, it could be supported living, educational day programs where you learn life skills. I chose the "Self Determination Program" to build a support team who can help me achieve my unique career goals of being a motivational speaker, equal rights advocate and performer. I am living out my dreams. Thanks to San Mateo County Health Transition Fair, Foothill College, College of San Mateo, and AbilityPath for helping me achieve my career goals. #smctransitionfair
