Mr Handsome has found his forever home! What was supposed to be just fostering, turned into a forever home within 14 hours. He worked his Magic! That makes 2 Sammies from SFSR! Congratulations Alanna and family again!! :-)
Have you ever wanted to try urban mushing with your Samoyed? Join us on October 5 at our annual picnic and give it a try! We’re teaming up with Bay Area Urban Mushers to host a demo from 10:30 until noon! 🤍
Guess who is in Northern California! Baby boy Toby!! Thank you Pilots N Paws pilot Karla for bringing him to us. He spent a little time decompressing at long time supporters Paul and Randy's house with their two Sammy boys in Santa Maria until we could fly him north. He is adorable and ready for adoption. Loves other dogs, knows cats and is a typical puppy. He loves snugs, grooming, and just plain adorable. Do you have room in your heart for this little 15 week old boy? Apply now: https://www.sfsr.org/pre-adoption-form
Congratulations Bambi and Rossi for finding your forever home together! Carol fell in love with you two goofballs. Thank you for opening your heart to these two beautiful Sammies. And they even have a Sammy sister Bella. Three’s Company! Welcome to the SFSR family!
We’re so excited that our annual picnic is coming up on October 5 at Oak Hill Park in Danville! We were thinking it might be fun to host a costume contest to get into the Halloween spirit. What do you think?
Folks who are planning on coming: Let us know if you’re interested! 🤍

Say Hi to baby boy Toby. Sammy mix, 12 weeks old. He was found on the street 4 weeks ago covered in motor oil. Looking for a forever home where he can thrive.
Foster Fail! Lodi the lion worked his magic and has a forever home! Welcome to the SFSR Family Anissa and Scott!!
Lodi update.....Thank you all for your prayers. They worked.
All his x-rays came back normal, exam was good. He does have some irritation on his back legs where the mats were most severe shaved out. He is a tough cookie. It took two sedation shots to get him down in order to do the x-rays. But I'm glad we did them. As you can see he refuses to lay down. Loves to cuddle as long as his feet are on the ground. He will fall asleep standing up. We were concerned that a possible hematoma was forming or that there was other issues, but the xrays and all the tests are good. He's just going through normal decompression and transition as he has been trough a lot this past week. He is learning what stairs are and loves to be inside with his people. You are safe now big boy! Time to relax.
Our boy Lodi has been a bit uncomfortable since his neuter. So the wonderful staff at VEG is checking him out in case of a hematoma or other issues coming to light since we got him.
Wishing Avi Bear a wonderful 11th Birthday! Time for the beach! That smile says it all!
Our sweet Lodi is now a lion! Due to the severe matting that was very painful to him, we had the vet shave his coat while he was under for his neuter. We don’t ever recommend shaving a Sammy, but in his case it was medically necessary. He is feeling like a new man! And now an SF resident with great foster parents to help him through his transition in knowing a loving family.
Lot's to catch up on! San Francisco Samoyed Rescue has been very busy with medical appointments for our Sammies. We strive to bring a quality of life to all of our dogs and make sure that all are appropriately vetted before adoption. Sometimes that can be very costly with specialists and the bills associated with the ailments we encounter on top of normal spay/neuter, vaccines, exams, blood tests, x-rays, medicine and foster care expenses. It has been a tough couple of months. We currently have two dogs seeing a dental specialist due to Enamel Hypoplasia, another needing TPLO surgery due to a torn ACL, two with UTI's, and one with bladder incontinence (still diagnosing). That's on top of the 3 dogs (Mickey, Sam, and Logan) that are in our permanent foster care program where SFSR pays for all their medical treatments, specialists, for the rest of their life. We couldn't save these precious souls without you, our loyal supporters. Please consider donated to help us continue to help these precious souls to live, and have a quality of life they so richly deserve. In the meantime, say hi to New Arrival LODI. Fending for himself on the street, he had parked himself on someones porch for a week. No chip, no one looking for him. Severely matted, dirty, full of sticks, weeds, foxtails, thin and we estimate only 18 months old. Very sweet boy. Currently being medically onboarded.
Our handsome alumni Apollo went on an epic road trip! Check out these gorgeous photos of this sweet boy living his best life! 🥰💛✨
Bambi and Rossi settling in at their foster home! Love these two.
New arrivals 7 yr old Bambi and 6 yr old Rossi getting to stretch their legs and say Hi to kittie cat after a long drive. Bonded pair looking for their forever home. For more information contact [email protected]
Mickey update: Our sweet boy is doing so good in his new foster home! He loves them and they love him! Our hearts are so full and we’re so grateful to them for the love they give dear Mickey! 💛🥹
