Today is National First Responders Day! While police, fire, and EMS are often the three most recognized first responders, Public Works is also often silently there - providing vital support to emergency response partners, helping protect essential services, and restoring those services following an emergency. In 2003, President George W. Bush issued a Homeland Security Presidential Directive, declaring Public Works employees as βFirst Respondersβ and recognizing their role in emergencies and disasters. The Public Works First Responder symbol uses familiar colors - orange, black and white - and a design reminiscent of road construction, signs, safety cones and orange construction barrels.

City of San Ramon - Government Contra Costa Clean Water Program
What if you had to go a day without water? Water is essential to every facet of (and faucet in!) our lives. And so, too, are the people, policies, and infrastructure that make sure it flows safely to our communities each day. π§Join us for - a national day of action to recognize the importance of investing in and protecting our most precious resource.
City of San Ramon - Government The Value of Water
On this day in history in 1972, the Clean Water Act was made into law. The Clean Water Act protects water quality and regulates pollutants that are discharged into waters. Urban stormwater runoff has been identified as a major source of pollutants to the waters of the United States, including San Francisco Bay. The City of San Ramon Stormwater Program is comprised of two components, the Countywide Program, and the San Ramon Stormwater Management Plan. The Stormwater Program is focused on storm drain and creek cleaning, street sweeping, public education, and inspection of private development construction sites. For more information, visit https://cityofsanramon.info/Stormwater
The Clean Water Act is a powerful reminder of our ability to make change for the better when we work together. Let us commit to continuing its legacy, providing access to safe water, and restoring a healthier planet.
