10ft KOTCS Standard Roo. This is a continuation of my modified Jacka design. Keeping the stiffened transition section shorter to make the whip feel like it's a 12 inch handle. And with a slightly slimmer and lighter profile. Still thicker than your average Morgan style Indy. But not as beefy as the original design. The slimmer and lighter profile coupled with a more practical approach to the stiffened transition makes for a much more manageable whip.

8ft custom 24 plait bullwhip, two tone in emerald green and natural tan. This was a fun project! It was complete request from the customer. They had an Asian traditional art theme in mind and sent me this photo to see what I could do. So I turned the handle from hard maple and cut out a stencile sheet of paper to know how much space I had to work with. Then I picked a "scene" area from the photo I was sent and started sketching. This would've been a much tougher job that I may have needed to turn down. Had it not been for the Art Work photo sent to me being more "cartooney". This made it easier to get a good transfer and in the end it turned out nice!

The customer is thrilled with their whip and for that I am happy!

Throwback to my very first ever made whip! This was nylon and don't ask me why I started off trying to make things as hard as possible lol.

So for starters, yes my very first whip was made with 3/16 whip makers cord 🤣. But wait, there's more lol. The core was a tapered weighted core. I used BBs in the first half and then really fine lead shot in the last half, up to about 1.5 ft from the end of the whip. Yes it was very very heavy lol.

Then I hand carved the handle from red oak dowel. I didn't have a lathe so I took a knife and just started carving and then sanded it smooth! It was a monster of a whip and I was very proud because I had dreamed of making a whip my whole life!

Later on I started trying to coat the whip in shellac to see if I could get it shiny looking like a real kangaroo whip. It worked very well! However, over time no matter what I did the shellac would flake off near the tip of the whip.

Later I changed out the handle for a new longer handle that I made on my homemade DYI lathe. I thought that was a good idea until I realized that all that weight in the thong made the extra leverage from a longer handle a very strenuous wrist exercise 🤣.

At some point I sought to redo the overlay and started pulling it off. Until I abandoned the project and eventually threw the whip away.

Maybe some day when I have more time for kicks and giggles I'll rebuild a replica but maybe not so much weight and a nice lathe turned handle instead!

6ft ToD distressed Standard Roo. Tried a new distressing effect this time and really happy with how it made the whip look. By simply darkening the top side beveled edge of each strand added a lot of "age" effect to this!

10ft INDY IV. Really like the feel of this design! Ive been working on a modified version of the stiff transition. Based on a conversation I had with Anthony DeLongis. The goal was to create a transition that made a short handled whip feel like a longer handled whip. So, Ive shortened the very heavy binding down to about five inches. Then the binding quickly tapers off. This make the whip feel more like a 12 inch handled whip rather than a 2ft handled whip. I find that the original style of the transition adds way too much stress on your wrist since the length of the transition causes the weight to bare mostly on the extension of that transition. With this style, the whip is much more practical and the transition far more tameable. I also tapered the whip a little quicker allowing for less weight in the last half. These two things really make this design shine in my opinion. All in all a nice whip!

8ft Kip Skin Raiders whip.

This is a great whip! It's made in all kip skin (yearling calf hide). Single belly single bolster design. Nice a supple and quite heavy and thick. Flows like butter. This whip is priced lower because it's made from kip skin and not kangaroo. But still a very very nice whip to crack and definitely has that "well of souls" look! DM me if interested!

6.5 ft Aussie Whip 24 plait to 8 plait in Brandy and White in the handle.

This whip was a prototype that I had made. There were some issues I had with a loose transition on this whip when I finished it. As a result I tore the whip down and fixed the transition and rebraided the whip. This whip also has a little bit of play with the heel knot and handle having a little bit of swivel in it. Other than that the whip performs well and cracks very nicely. As a result of these issues this whip is being sold a very low discounted price. If interested please DM me.

2024 LA Whip Con competition whip that I submitted this year! I didn't place this year but I did get 4th place with an honorable mention which was far more than I expected with this year's very stiff competition!

So, where to begin. My initial design was for a 24 plait whip in Brandy with white in the handle and some fancy plaiting. The whip pictured on the right was this whip. However there were some things that I just wasn't happy with and wanted to do better. So I made the second one on the left in whiskey. This one turned out much much better.

The design for the whip that was submitted on the left was 7ft 24 plait and ends in 8 plait. 2 belly design in chrome split with a weighted core. 12 inch spring steel handle and mild lead weight in the heel. Good weight and good balance. Topped off with a brass ferrule and pineapple knots all the way through. A lot of first times on these two whips. The unique icing on the top for these whips is the tassels on the heel. These serve as decoration tassels but both have a slip knot that can open them up to be used as functional wrist loops. A very cool addition.

After making the 2nd version (in whiskey) I went back to the first one (in Brandy) and corrected some of the issues. This whip totes a 24 plait to 8 plait overlay in Brandy and white on the handle. 2 belly chrome split design with weighted core. The handle is 12 inches of 5mm steel lined carbon fiber and has a TON of flex. Actually creates a really unique action that's very snappy. Comes to a total length of 6.5 ft

So it was a fun project on both of these through and through. Let's just say November and December have been very busy for me.

The awesome part was hearing the really good feedback from the judges!
