Ever wonder why we package our milk in paper cartons? Did you know that milk cartons have ten times the thermal conductivity of plastic, offering better insulation to keep milk cold? Paper cartons also use fewer raw materials and are made from sustainable resources (trees). While plastic jugs can be recycled, less than 30% actually are. We think cartons have the advantage, in terms of delivering quality milk with less environmental impact...plus the art project ideas are endless.

Depression, anxiety, and or apathy can be common symptoms. This is due to physiological changes in the body and are not related to mental health as we traditionally think of it.
These are symptoms that may be hard to recognize in oneself. If you notice these in your loved one, have a conversation. Better yet, make a plan now for how you will handle the discussions should these symptoms appear in the future.
Discuss these symptoms with all providers.

Soldiers and their families stationed at Camp LeJeune were exposed to chemicals in the ground water. One study suggests that they have a 70% increased risk for PD when compared to those stationed at Camp Pendleton.
The chemicals were TCE and PCE, common chemicals founds in life. TCE is an industrial degreaser and is also found in adhesives, paint removers, and spot removers. PCE is commonly used in dry cleaning.
If you were stationed at Camp Lejeune, please do not ignore warning signs. Help is available through the VA.

Social isolation and loneliness are some of the greatest predictors of poor outcomes.
As symptoms increase, it can become more difficult to engage in activities for a variety of reasons. (We will discuss more of these as the month progresses)
If you have PD please continue to be engaged with friends, family, and activities. Support groups are a great place to find friends and those who understand your journey.
If you have a friend or loved one with PD, reach out...often. They need your love and support as well as your visits. If they can't come to you, please go to them. Your friendship and companionship can and should be seen as medicine. Not just for the soul, but also the body.

Those having the best outcomes are eating a nutrient dense, whole foods diet.
This means a plate full of fresh fruits and vegetables and lots of healthy plant and seafood fats.
Don't know where to start? Start by adding fruits and veggies to your diet. Aim for half of your plate at every meal to be fruits/veggies.
