* Why does Orlando’s primary airport have the call letters MCO instead of OIA?
 
Orlando International Airport has grown into one of the busiest airports in the world thanks in large part to our booming tourist industry, a growing metropolis, and a robust business sector. When most people say they are going to the airport, they use the abbreviation O-I-A, which makes sense since it’s Orlando International Airport. But when you check on a flight or get your bag tag, there it is, the three letters that seem to make no sense: MCO. Those three letters are actually a big part of our area’s history and symbolize one of our most famous aviators.

Our Butterfly Garden is the newest addition. With the help of Lukas Nursery and the Sanford Ixora Garden Club, we have "shrunk our grass" and replaced it with many varieties of native pollinator plants where butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds can find food. It has quickly become a tiny park where children learn about the life cycles of critters and neighbors stop to chat in a tranquil space.
