🎉🇺🇸 Congratulations to our Seminole State Veteran of the Month for May, Tim Haynes! 🎉🇺🇸

Tim is a dedicated family man who has worked at our school for 4 years as the Catering Supervisor. He is also a proud Navy veteran who served from 1984 to 1987 as a Mess Management Specialist Third Class (MS3) on the CVN 70 USS Carl Vinson. 🌊⚓️

Tim joined the Navy to seek education and experience different cultures, and his naval career took him around the world to places like Yokosuka, Japan; Mombasa, Kenya; the Philippines; Australia; and Hong Kong, China. 🌏✨

His words of advice: “Live your life to the fullest, because nobody knows how long you're going to be here.” Wise words from a well-traveled veteran! 🙌

🐾✨ Yesterday was a fantastic day at Judy’s Pet Rescue for our Dogs to Dog Tags community service event! We had an amazing time painting cages, cleaning up weeds, and taking some adorable doggies for walks. 🌿🎨🐶 Huge thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered their time and effort. 🎗️🚶‍♂️ Honored to share the moments from our Su***de Awareness Walk on April 26th at Seminole State College Sanford/Lake Mary campus. 🌟 With over 40 people joining us to walk around the lake for 4 laps, it was a powerful display of support and solidarity. 💙 Special thanks to our friends at Chad Barr Law and Camp McCormick for providing valuable resources for veterans. 🙏 Our purpose for this event was to remember the ones we've lost and to show that no one has to fight alone. 💪 UAV is here to bring our community back together, upholding our promise: veterans there for veterans. 🇺🇸 ***deAwareness 🎗️🚶‍♀️🇺🇸

Honoring Our Veteran of the Month: A Tale of Service and Inspiration

In our dedication to spotlighting the valor and commitment of our veterans, we honor Chase Humes, an exceptional individual whose journey exemplifies resilience and unwavering dedication.

Background and Military Service:
A couple of members of Chase’s past relatives having served inspired and instilled a sense of honor in him, leading him to join their dedication in serving our country. Enlisting in the Marine Corps, Chase served as a Sergeant (E5) in roles ranging from cyber network operator.

Memorable Experiences:
While Chase treasures the camaraderie and lasting connections formed during his service, it’s the collective spirit of his fellow servicemen and women that resonates most deeply.

Life Lessons and Challenges:
The lessons gleaned from military service continue to shape Chase’s outlook, instilling virtues of respect, perseverance, and adaptability. Patience and resilience were crucial in overcoming the challenges encountered, teaching invaluable lessons in fortitude and determination.

Seminole State Student Experience:
As a student at Seminole State, Chase appreciates the accessibility and support provided by the institution. He advocates for enhanced resources tailored to the veteran community, believing it would foster a more enriching campus environment.

Driven by ambition, Chase pursues a degree in business with aspirations of entering the field of medical device sales, a testament to his commitment to personal and professional growth.

Our Vice President and Secretary had a productive visit to the UCF campus to enhance communication between our schools and veterans organizations. 🏫💬 Together, we’re committed to offering the best support and resources for our student veterans. 🇺🇸💪 🤝🎓

🎉🍔 Our first United Assistant Veterans Club Members Meeting & Cookout on January 26 was a success! 🇺🇸 We gathered to welcome new members, introduce our club’s mission and structure, and enjoy delicious food courtesy of our treasurer Mike Culverhouse. 🍔👋 It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow vets from Seminole State College and feel the camaraderie shining bright. 💫 If you’re a student at Seminole State College and a veteran or have a family member who is, you’re welcome to join us! 🎓👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Any businesses or organizations interested in supporting our club, please DM us. 🎉✈️ Throwback to an incredible experience at the Student Veterans of America® National Conference (NatCon) from January 4-6! 🇺🇸 NatCon is the largest gathering of student veterans worldwide, bringing together chapters from 1,600+ campuses to share ideas, network, and connect with supporters and allies. 💼💬 Our VP Ian Queen and I were grateful for the chance to attend, made possible by the generous support of local organizations. 🙏
