Tim is a dedicated family man who has worked at our school for 4 years as the Catering Supervisor. He is also a proud Navy veteran who served from 1984 to 1987 as a Mess Management Specialist Third Class (MS3) on the CVN 70 USS Carl Vinson. ๐โ๏ธ
Tim joined the Navy to seek education and experience different cultures, and his naval career took him around the world to places like Yokosuka, Japan; Mombasa, Kenya; the Philippines; Australia; and Hong Kong, China. ๐โจ
His words of advice: โLive your life to the fullest, because nobody knows how long you're going to be here.โ Wise words from a well-traveled veteran! ๐

๐พโจ Yesterday was a fantastic day at Judyโs Pet Rescue for our Dogs to Dog Tags community service event! We had an amazing time painting cages, cleaning up weeds, and taking some adorable doggies for walks. ๐ฟ๐จ๐ถ Huge thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered their time and effort. ๐๏ธ๐ถโโ๏ธ Honored to share the moments from our Su***de Awareness Walk on April 26th at Seminole State College Sanford/Lake Mary campus. ๐ With over 40 people joining us to walk around the lake for 4 laps, it was a powerful display of support and solidarity. ๐ Special thanks to our friends at Chad Barr Law and Camp McCormick for providing valuable resources for veterans. ๐ Our purpose for this event was to remember the ones we've lost and to show that no one has to fight alone. ๐ช UAV is here to bring our community back together, upholding our promise: veterans there for veterans. ๐บ๐ธ ***deAwareness ๐๏ธ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐บ๐ธ
๐๐ So proud of our UAV MEMBER Araceli Villalba and her family for their incredible achievement at the CFMCF Scholarship ceremony last Monday! ๐ Araceli's daughter, Nicole Villalba, received the CFMCF grant, and we couldn't be happier for their family's success! ๐ Huge thanks to Colonel Walter Yates, founder of CFMCF Scholarship, and Colonel Marcus J. Honoring Our Veteran of the Month: A Tale of Service and Inspiration
In our dedication to spotlighting the valor and commitment of our veterans, we honor Chase Humes, an exceptional individual whose journey exemplifies resilience and unwavering dedication.
Background and Military Service:
A couple of members of Chaseโs past relatives having served inspired and instilled a sense of honor in him, leading him to join their dedication in serving our country. Enlisting in the Marine Corps, Chase served as a Sergeant (E5) in roles ranging from cyber network operator.

While Chase treasures the camaraderie and lasting connections formed during his service, itโs the collective spirit of his fellow servicemen and women that resonates most deeply.
Life Lessons and Challenges:

๐๐ Our first United Assistant Veterans Club Members Meeting & Cookout on January 26 was a success! ๐บ๐ธ We gathered to welcome new members, introduce our clubโs mission and structure, and enjoy delicious food courtesy of our treasurer Mike Culverhouse. ๐๐ It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow vets from Seminole State College and feel the camaraderie shining bright. ๐ซ If youโre a student at Seminole State College and a veteran or have a family member who is, youโre welcome to join us! ๐๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ Any businesses or organizations interested in supporting our club, please DM us. ๐โ๏ธ Throwback to an incredible experience at the Student Veterans of Americaยฎ National Conference (NatCon) from January 4-6! ๐บ๐ธ NatCon is the largest gathering of student veterans worldwide, bringing together chapters from 1,600+ campuses to share ideas, network, and connect with supporters and allies. ๐ผ๐ฌ Our VP Ian Queen and I were grateful for the chance to attend, made possible by the generous support of local organizations. ๐
