Merry, Last Sunday before Christmas ❤️

We are doing the names of Jesus for advent at Connect.

Then each day each family is to write His name on an ornament that goes with that devotion .
Today is Jesus.

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins". Matthew 1:21

We are thankful for this beautiful lady who shared from the word on Sunday.
We are blessed with such beautiful people who love the Lord and love to share it with others.

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

My identity is in Christ Jesus and Him alone.

My identity does not come from what I do, or don't do.
My identity does not come from what you think of me
My identity does not come from what I think about me
My identity does not come from what I accomplish

I am who God says I am and my identity is in Him.

I am a child of God,
Beloved of the Father
Seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

What I do, does not define who I am, in fact what I do is a direct result of whose I am.

Let God define the do's and don't in your life.

No! is a complete sentence.
Your no's will make some people mad
DO LESS AND DO IT BETTER

The things that I thought was most important stole from me the things that are important.

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Great message this morning.
"A lie believed as truth, will affect you as if it were true."

Don't believe the lies of the enemy.

The Presence of God from the perspective of a child.

WHAT A WAY TO START THE NEW YEAR!
Being reminded that MY God is with ME.
HE IS Omnipresent.

In Isaiah 41:10 he says, So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Hebrews 13:5 I will never leave you nor forsake you.

This was the question today, if God is with me, how can I be with him?

There is simplicity in the gospel yet powerful, practical and profound truths.

Here's four simple, powerful, practical and profound things you can do right now, to be with God as He is with you... these will answer the question, if God is with me, how can I be with him?

1. Talk to God
Psalm 54:2, philippians 4:6-7

2. Listen to God's voice
Deuteronomy 30:20
Read his word, ask him who and what to pray for, tell the person God is thinking of them.

3. Receive from him.
2 Corinthians 1:3, Isaiah 66:13

4. Enjoy his presence
Psalm 16:11, Proverbs 8:30

These four things are simple enough for a child to understand yet powerful enough to transform your life by drawing you closer to God.

This is why you had to be at Connect, this is just a summary but there was so much more to learn in that moment, you just had to be there.

My God is with ME He is Omnipresent.
Amen.

Our Connect family enjoyed worshipping together with the amazing John and Jenn.

We then had a fun Christmas party. Several of us dressed a like.
Not planned but we have some beautiful Connect ladies.
And we celebrated our soldier Joshua being home for Christmas. God is so good.❤️

Anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child shall not enter In.
Mark 10:15.

Sometimes it's hard to find God in the midst of what we consider bad things happening and many times we may ask the question well where was God in all this? Or we may ask, if God was for me why is all this happening to me?
It may be difficult to see the goodness of God from our perspective but if we allow ourselves to trust and have faith, we will find Him.

God is for me, so who can be against me?Everything is already done, your sins are forgiven you don't have to run and hide from God anymore.

When you realize that God is for you, you don't hide from God but you run to God.

When you realize that God is for you, you don't live for God's approval I live FROM his approval.

When you realize that God is for you, you won't fear what happens to you because you know God is working in you.

Thank you God, I know you are for me! Amen!

Overcome the fear of intimacy, inspired by the Holy Spirit

1 John 4:18 - His perfect love drives out all fear...

Fear of intimacy keeps us from connecting with God and others. Somehow we are stuck believing a lie about ourselves that drives us to building a barrier between ourselves and God as well as those that we claim to love. Some will find themselves thinking, "If you really knew me...the real me, you wouldn't like me." Lies all lies.

Because we went through some type pf traumatic event when we were little, we set out to make sure that our children never have to go through the hurt or the pain.

In doing so we pretend that we don't have hurt or pain, our that we are over it already. If you are not able to acknowledge your pain, then you will not be able to overcome the fear of intimacy.

Hear this: YOUR PAIN IS REAL!
THE PAIN OF A BROKEN RELATIONSHIP IS REAL, THE PAIN OF WHAT YOU EXPERIENCED IS REAL!

To get over your fear of intimacy, you must
1. RE-CONNECT with your heavenly Father
At the point of sin in the Garden of Eden intimacy with God and mankind was broken. Genesis 3:9-10

2. STOP BLAMING someone else- your fear of intimacy can make you defensive. When you become defensive and play the blame game, you remain in your fear of intimacy. Genesis 3:12

In order to reconnect yourself to God, you must return to Him and to return, you must take a PRAYERFUL RELATIONAL RISK, then you will overcome the fear and have an intimate return.

Risk makes you vulnerable and vulnerability makes you fearful BUT if you prayerfully consider and take the risk, you will overcome.

IT IS SCARY TO RISK BUT IT IS EVEN MORE SCARY NOT TO TAKE A RISK.

WARNING!!!
Avoid the premature intimacy Solomon 8:4
"Stop giving your heart so easily over and over again every time you meet someone. It makes you an emotional slut!!!" Yes, he said it! False intimacy is outside of marriage.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love for perfect love drives out all fear.

Before you risk, find sincerity, acceptance and intimacy in CHRIST!

Matthew 22:37 “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Romans 15:7 Therefore, continue to accept and welcome one another, just as Christ has accepted and welcomed us to the glory of our great God.

Give yourself grace.

OVERCOME THE FEAR OF FAILURE

This is just a recap, there was so much more, you just had to be there.

2 Timothy 1:7 God did not give you a spirit of fear but of power, love and of a sound mind.

Fear does not come from God.
Then who does it come from? Satan.

Satan knows that at one point or another, everyone fears failure.

The opposite of fear is faith and without faith, it’s impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6

Whenever you sense God is calling you to a faith move you can rest assured that the very people around you will be the ones discouraging you.

Don’t let someone else’s failures or someone else’s fear make a monkey out of you. (You had to be there for the monkey story)

Understand this, you will fail!
But you must believe and embrace the thought that you will fail and when you do, allow yourself to feel the disappointment but not the disapproval.

Remember this,
"Failure is an event It’s never a person".

Jesus the risen Christ loved Peter through his failures.

God did something in Peter before he did something through Peter.

You may faill at something but you are not the fail.

Don't be afraid to fail.

Romans 5:3 tells us that we can rejoice when we run into problems trials and tribulations because it works our patience.

You can overcome.

"Failure is the price that I pay on the road to God’s success"

It doesn’t matter what happens to you it matters what happens in you.

God may be doing something in you to prepare you for what he wants to do through you.

You cannot please everyone and please God.
You cannot bury your talent and please God. Matthew 25:24-28

Your greatest fear will lead you to your biggest regrets.

Take the plunge, you must take faith risks.

We all have a choice to make:- grumble and complain with discontent, or CHOOSE to be content.
When we are not content or satisfied with where we are or what we have, we are allowing the thief to come into our lives. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life to the fullest. John 10:10
"By stealing your contentment, the devil has stolen your life."

We slip into an attitude of ingratitude by looking at what someone else has and coveting it.
Deuteronomy 7:25, Do not covet the silver or the gold lest you be ensnared by it.
The secret of being content lies in Philippians 4:11-13
Absolutely everything that I need to do what will glorify God in this season of my life, I have been given by God, through His son Jesus Christ, therefore I can choose to be content in whatever state I am.
I have learned to abase and to abound Paul said, I know what it is to have plenty and to lack and to be content in whatever state I am in.
THE SECRET TO CONTENTMENT...
(I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.) AMEN!
