4th of July PSA
It is important to leave 9-1-1 lines open for emergencies. Do you know when you should call 911 versus the non-emergency line regarding fireworks? This video will help break it down. As always, if you need an ambulance, there is a fire, or there is an in-progress police emergency, call 911 otherwise call 714-647-7000 or 949770-6011. Have fun but stay safe!

City Fireworks
While some cities in Orange County allow Safe & Sane fireworks, most do not. If your city allows Safe & Sane fireworks, please remember: 🚫 Never allow young children to handle fireworks. 👀 Older children should use them only under adult supervision. ✋ Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands. 🏠 Never light fireworks indoors. 🎆 Only use them away from people, houses and flammable materials. 💧 Soak both spent and unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding. 🚰 Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks or in case of fire.

Call Non-Emergency Dispatch To Report Fireworks
We understand illegal fireworks can be disruptive, but it’s crucial to reserve 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies, where every minute counts. To report fireworks violations please call our non-emergency numbers at (714) 647-7000 or (949) 770-6011.

Diaper Drive 2024
Today, our R&D team and Six Points For Kids crew rocked it at Home Aid OC's Diaper Drive! We built a sheriff's star frame, starring Duke Jr., filled to the brim with diapers and baby essentials. Not only is this one of our favorite projects, but we love knowing these essential items are helping local families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

From the first step to the final handoff to Laguna Beach PD, our team ran with purpose and passion in the Law Enforcement Torch Run. We are proud to be part of a movement that champions acceptance and inclusion for Special Olympics. OC Half Marathon
Over the weekend, Deputy MacDonald partnered with Audrey from Ainsley's Angels of America and together, they ran the OC half marathon. Ainsley Angels charity promotes "inclusion without limits" and gives disabled riders the ability to feel empowered and be included in these events they otherwise wouldn't be capable of. “I was inspired to run after seeing this charity in Huntington Beach at a full marathon I did back in February,” Deputy MacDonald said. “I plan on doing many more races with Audrey and the Ainsley's Angels Team.” Great Job Deputy MacDonald and Audrey!

Today, the Sheriff’s Response Team (SRT) hosted a training event that included multiple partner agencies. The focus of the training was to prepare our SRT for situations that involve large crowds or incidents of civil unrest. Deputies were trained on how to hold formations and how to properly work with motors and the Mounted Enforcement Unit. Our goal is to be ready for any scenario so that we can protect the rights of protesters, community members, and residents.

Four OC Sheriff running teams participated in the 120-mile Baker2Vegas relay against over 200 other law enforcement teams last month. Despite facing intense weather conditions, the runners displayed an incredible amount of determination and gave their best. All the teams made us proud, but the Women's team deserves a special mention as they secured the 3rd place, a remarkable feat that has not been achieved since 2009. Our other teams included: 🏃‍♂️Our open team, who placed 8th 🏃‍♀️Our mixed team, who placed 17th 🏃Our Crime Lab, who’s a non-competitive team that goes out for the camaraderie Congratulations to everyone who participated, and a big thank you to all the volunteers, alternates, and support staff. Prior to the relay, our teams ran the annual Poncy Memorial run. This year, they ran in honor of Deputy Brian Haney and raised funds for the Haney family. The morning of the run, they presented the donations to the Haney family.

We had a great time with our partners at the District Attorney’s Office during the Gang Reduction and Intervention Partnership’s (GRIP) annual spring break Soccer Athletic Enrichment Program. The program provides a positive activity for children during their spring break. Local students had the chance to play soccer with deputies and officers from other agencies. Additionally, the children received a special visit from our bomb squad and K9 Rebel. ⚽️
