Making Diamonds - Westmont College Athletics Westmont Men's Soccer made the most of last year's NCAA DII transition season, winning the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship. Two months ago, the Warriors thought the 2024 season would be about defending that title.

Duncan Simcoe, a Southern California artist and former chair of the College of Architecture, Visual Arts and Design at California Baptist University in Riverside, offers his signature limited-palette paintings on dark construction-grade tar paper in “Night Visions: The Black Drawings of Duncan Simcoe, 2014-2024” from Aug. 29–Nov. 9 in the Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art.

About 400 new incoming students, including the Grotenhuis Nursing cohort of 24, took their First Walk today before the start of the fall semester, Aug. 26.
Nineteen percent (70) of new students are first-generation and 21 are international students, representing nine countries, including Liberia, Belgium, Rwanda and Germany.

While classes on campus don't begin until Monday, Westmont’s Global Health in Uganda Program is already underway with professor Cynthia Toms. The class recently met with Dr. Esther, a local pediatrician who spoke about nutrition.

Tiffany Allison has joined us as the new Assistant Principal at Ruby Bridges Elementary School.
Ms. Allison received her BA in English Language and Literature from Westmont College and her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from Colorado State University. She has worked in the educational field for more than 18 years as an English teacher for middle and high school students. She also worked in professional development before serving as a teacher on special assignment for Walnut Creek School District.
Ruby’s new AP has a warm and encouraging message for her students. “I think it’s really important to remember that every school year is a new chapter,” she says. “It’s an exciting opportunity for all of us to be our best selves, start fresh, get to know one another, and grow!”
Westmont biology student Isabella Garcia ‘25 and professor Laura Drake Schultheis Laura Drake presented a paper, "Purposeful Planting: Characterizing Plant Flammability Using Functional Traits for Defensible Space," at the Ecological Society of America Annual Meeting, one of the largest ecology conferences in the nation.
