Join the UCSC People of Color Sustainability Collective (POCSC) for an empowering panel that celebrates the voices, visions, and efforts of women of color environmentalists. Our panelists include inspiring women from UC Santa Cruz and external organizations. After the panel, connect with folks as all in attendance will have the opportunity to enjoy a special dinner with the panelists.
All UCSC community members of all identities and their guests are invited to attend. This event is free!

Getting ready for spring showers? Maya archaeologists aren’t! Many projects in the Petén and other areas of the traditional Maya region are taking advantage of the annual Winter/Spring dry season to research and learn more about the world of the ancient Maya.
In addition to eating a wide variety of plants from the forest garden, the ancient Maya regularly ate the white tailed deer that roamed the edges of forests and fields. Although many other societies explicitly domesticated their animals, the Maya had no need to as they domesticated their landscape.
