“Who is this?” you ask. Well, it’s me – Nancy, co-owner of Lovebird Boutique. I’m sharing this vintage photo for no other reason than it’s my birthday today – and it’s a BIG one. One of those numbers that catch in your throat and don’t quite roll off the tongue easily. Yet. I love this photo as it reminds me of my mother Hazel who was a fashionista and lived to shop. Me, I was a tomboy. Hard to tell from this photo but bows and frills and pinks and dolls – we weren’t friends. Give me horses, water, balls and bikes and I was happy. Thanks to Hazel, she always made sure I looked good, she taught me the ABCs of savvy shopping and imparted perhaps the best advice of all – just buy the outfit.

When I look at this little girl, I can tell you with 100% certainty that owning a women’s boutique was the last thing on her mind. But life has an amazing way of presenting unanticipated opportunities and when doors open, I have a habit of walking through them. Lovebird is one of those doors I walked through with the encouragement and support of my wonderful partner Peter. I couldn’t be happier and every time I help a customer and suggest that she “buys the outfit”, I’m channeling my mother and that makes me smile. So here’s to me! Here’s to unexpected opportunities in life! Here’s to being 65!

Welcome Julia! A new Lovebird has landed in the nest and we are so happy to have her. A Santa Barbara born and bred girl, Julia brings her joyful spirit, enthusiasm, authenticity and creative styling talents to Lovebird each and every day. In her free time, she loves spending time in the ocean, horseback riding and rock painting. Do yourself a favor and stop by to say hello to Julia. She is a breath of fresh air and is greatly appreciated 💕
