This long-standing program addresses the changing needs and challenges of our times, and seeks to transform hearts and lives by preparing its students in solid theological and ministerial groundings to engage and accompany others with competence, conscience, and compassion.

“We are so pleased and proud that we can offer our extraordinary pastoral ministries training to an audience much further afield than our own region and its nearby dioceses,” said Daniel Press, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “Bringing these classes online is particularly important to advancing the Jesuit, Catholic mission of Santa Clara University.”

We are excited to announce that the Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries is launching Santa Clara University’s first online graduate certificate. Starting this Fall 2022 the Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice & Chaplaincy will be offered online or in-person to post-undergraduate students interested in healing communities through ministry or chaplaincy.

The COVID-19 pandemic, growing incarceration rates, rising poverty, and a need for support within schools contributed to increased interest in restorative justice studies across the nation, and led to the development of this certificate—believed to be one of the only such programs in the nation.
