We had a wonderful time hosting from Delaware State University at our operations in Singapore! 🇸🇬​

The students learned about our work with Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute to make clean water accessible to remote villages in Thailand, an opportunity supported by a grant from the Agilent Foundation. ​

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting 26 students from Delaware State University for a day of professional development and mentorship—and to celebrate our partnership with DSU to expand opportunity in STEM. 🔬

We're now three years into our program with DSU, which involves not only providing scholarships to students, known as Agilent Scholars, but also professional development and mentorship opportunities that can open more doors.

“Being an Agilent Scholar has significantly enriched my network and provided me with a wealth of knowledge and opportunities. I’m grateful for these experiences and excited for the future,” said Madison Ridgeway, an Agilent Scholar in attendance.

During the event, Agilent scientists operated scientific instruments with students, while other employees shared career tips and answered questions at panel sessions. Students toured the facility and benefited from ad hoc conversations throughout the day, broadening and deepening their relationships with the Agilent community.

🌈 Celebrating Pride at Agilent! 🌈​

August was a month of vibrant celebrations and heartfelt inclusivity at Agilent, with two fantastic Pride events in San Jose, US, and Glostrup, Denmark.​

In San Jose, nearly three dozen Agilent employees, mostly from our Santa Clara site, including our CEO Padraig McDonnell and several members of his direct team, along with friends and family, proudly marched in the Silicon Valley Pride parade.

Our team sported unique T-shirts spelling out “INCLUSION” with periodic table symbols, handed out Skittles, Agilent Pride-themed merch, and waved Agilent Pride flags. The festival area was buzzing with activity as we shared information about Agilent and connected with the community. This marks our third consecutive year participating in this joyous event!​

Meanwhile, in Glostrup, Denmark, our Pride event was a smashing success! Over 40 enthusiastic employees gathered to celebrate love and diversity during Copenhagen Pride Week.

The event featured delicious Pride cakes, colorful macaroons, refreshing tea/coffee, and the Agilent Pride T-shirts. We also engaged in meaningful conversations on being a good ally, tackling unconscious bias, and pronoun-awareness. The fun continued with a lively Pride Kahoot quiz, where the top three champions won awesome Agilent merch!​

A huge shoutout to our LGBTQA+ Employee Network Group Rainbow Spark for making these events unforgettable. At Agilent, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can be their true selves. 🌟​

This summer, Agilent hosted several high schoolers at our Frederick, Colorado, facility for an educational program that can serve as a launch pad for careers in life science. 🚀🔬​

The multi-week internship is part of the curriculum of P-TECH, a public education model that expands STEM education and opportunities to more students. Agilent engineers showed students the basics of pharma manufacturing and provided mentorship. They also included some fun projects, including how to extract DNA from fruit!​
​
At the end of the internship, students shared what they learned. “We finally got to connect what we learned in our classes to the real world. Being here opened my eyes a whole lot,” said one student to a local reporter. ​
​
The program is an important way for Agilent to support local youth and the next generation of life science professionals. The students were wonderful and we thank them for their participation, along with the P-TECH teachers and administrators who make the program possible. 🎉​
