Saturday Levi’s Stadium Event

There will be a soccer match at Levi’s Stadium on the Saturday of the show at 7 pm (much the same as last year for the pre-season football game). We don’t know how much this will impact parking or even access to the area by car, but it could be quite substantial and at some point, cars without arrangements may be turned away from the area. This is completely out of our control and despite our best efforts to avoid it, we find ourselves in a tricky situation. We hope all of the information below can help.

We suggest the following:

Arrive early on Saturday to take advantage of the limited free on-site parking before the roads are restricted for the game. Carpooling is encouraged.

Parking in the evening will likely be restricted to the lots reserved for the Levi’s event. Don’t expect the Santa Clara Convention Center garage to be freely available (they call it Red Lot 2). You can pay for parking in advance at nearby lots via parkwhiz https://www.parkwhiz.com/levi-s-stadium-parking/leagues-cup-group-stage-chivas-v-earthquakes-1427603/ (arriving after 6 pm).

Take public transportation (the light rail is the closest to the event). Please be aware that the light rail stops running around 11 pm at night, which is before the close of the show. Also, light rail parking lots may fill up early. Please go to https://www.vta.org/go/routes for more information from VTA.

Rideshare or taxi requires using specific drop-off and pick-up locations as specified on the Levi’s stadium website at https://www.levisstadium.com/plan-your-visit/pickup-dropoff/ . Drop-off is on Great America Parkway curbside, between Old Glory and Tasman Drive. Pick-up is at Red Parking Lot 7, which is about a block north from the convention center on Great America Parkway.

The Great America theme park parking lot is usually open during Levi’s events. Their guests can park for $30 in the lot or for free with an annual pass.

Please be prepared for it to take extra time to get to the show on Saturday – the earlier you can get here, the better.

See https://caextreme.org/transportation-parking/ for any updates to the above information.

Thank you for your understanding.

Food Policy

We want you to be aware of a new stricter convention center policy regarding food. No outside food, which includes food bought in the hotel as well as bottled water and any food carried with you, can be brought into any area of the convention center. This means no outside food past the double doors where the hotel leads into the convention center. It is understood in some cases medical needs may require small food items to be carried for emergency use.

These constraints are required by the convention center.

There will be water stations with cups in the lobby/registration area. We ask you to refrain from bringing water bottles to the show as they will need to be empty before entering the show exhibition area (in other words, no water near the games).

Raffle

There will be a raffle again this year. The grand prize is a Stern Jaws Pro pinball machine! There will be other prizes you can win including various items from Stern and other fun prizes. Tickets will be available at the show. More information at https://caextreme.org/raffle/ . The Grand Prize
drawing will be at 3:30 PM on Sunday in the Magnolia Room.

Tournaments

There are several great tournaments this year:

Pinball – 3 different tournaments (Main, Women’s, and Classics). Qualifying Friday and Saturday with Finals on Saturday and Sunday – see https://caextreme.org/tournaments/ for times. These are located in the pinball tournament areas in the hotel.

Little Flippers Pinball – On Saturday and Sunday we will have a Kids High Score Challenge on each game in the tournament. Located in the Marco booth, the winner gets a trophy. Time is from noon-4pm each day with the winner announced at 4pm on Sunday (after last game finished).

Street Fighter - Street Fighter II (sign-ups 12:30 PM – starting time 1:00 PM) and Street Fighter III (sign-ups 3:30 PM – starting time 4:00 PM). Located in the Grand Ballroom in the Street Fighter Tournament area.

Asteroids: Recharged Tournament - 11 AM Saturday. You can win a brand-new Asteroids: Recharged Arcade Cabinet which will be given away at the same time as the Grand Prize for the raffle. Located in the Grand Ballroom in the Alan-1 booth.

See rules and details at https://caextreme.org/tournaments/ .

– Lots of games to play – Tens of thousands of square feet of free play rapture. Each year brings a huge selection of rare, prototype, and/or one-of-a-kind games from across all arcade eras and genres. Play old favorites like PacMan, Asteroids, Twilight Zone, and Funhouse, and try rarer games that you probably don't see every day or never saw before, like Quantum, Inferno, Varkon, and Big Bang Bar. Also enjoy newer games including many that have only recently been released. And there will be many "other" types of games like the two player, head-to-head Panic Park, the pedal-powered Prop Cycle, and a myriad of multiplayer, dance, and music-themed interactive games, many of which are rarely seen in this country. And there will also be home consoles!

See the list of games on the website - please note that this list is only a partial list and it is tentative and subject to change… there will be many more games at the show than those listed!

Make California Extreme a great show

We're planning for our big show, and we want to get your help! Here are some ways you can help us make this a great show:

- Bring games! The games are of course the heart of the show, and it’s fun to bring yours to share and show off. A big "thank you" goes out to everyone who has brought games previously and we hope to see you and your games return, but if you haven't brought games previously, why not join the fun and do it this year? Even if you have just 1 game, dust it off and bring it down to the show for the fun. You will find information about bringing your games to the show (bring a game for admission discounts and early access to the show floor - bring 3, get in free! - by checking our exhibitor page at https://caextreme.org/exhibitors/. Returning this year – an exhibitor only valuable prize (must register in advance)! One ticket will be given for each game brought to the show!

- Volunteer – we need people to help us and we will reward you with reduced or even free admission (must be approved in advance). Help is needed on:
- Thursday and Friday (especially Friday PM) – unload and set-up equipment.
- Saturday and Sunday – assist in the registration area and on the show floor.
- Sunday late PM and Monday – pack up and load out. See the volunteer page at https://caextreme.org/volunteers/ on the website for more details.

- Planning – we need your energy and ideas to help us plan the show!

We are working on this year’s lineup of seminars, guest speakers, and other arcade-themed events that make the show so much fun each year. On that note, we are looking to you (as we have before), the arcade community, for suggestions for topics and speakers. Is there something you would like to see presented (or even to present yourself)? This is your chance to let us know what you would like to see! Send us an e-mail at [email protected] and let us know. We welcome all suggestions and will consider each one carefully.

Start making your plans, requesting time off work, making reservations by planes, trains, automobiles, and especially trucks to come out and join us for another crazy, arcade-filled weekend! And be sure to let us know if you are interested in bringing games and/or volunteering to help us out by contacting us at [email protected]. Both are most welcome (and can be worth free admission and/or other goodies!).

Thanks to all our previous exhibitors and volunteers. We hope we can count on you again, and if you have never brought games or volunteered before, why not give it a try this time? Even bringing one or two games is very much appreciated. If you have more games you are considering bringing, contact us for more details. Sure, it may be a little work, but you may be pleasantly surprised at how much more fun you may have in the end. We promise.

We will announce later when the hotel will be accepting reservations (please don’t contact the hotel as the block is not set up yet) and when show tickets will be on sale.
