Stein Farm & Weather Station
Follow along and learn about our suburban "farm" and our amateur weather station in Santa Clarita, CA
We started in 2015, growing basil, bell peppers, carrots, cilantro, corn, cucumbers, limestone lettuce, onions, peas, squash, tomatoes (3 kinds), one watermelon plant, two zucchini plants. We have never grown anything more than tomatoes so we are excited to share our journey.
Today’s tomato haul!
The first cherry tomato of the Stein Farm & Weather Station deserves a fancy picture.

“Soul-crushing medical debt is not a normal part of life in most other countries. Fear of the debt you may accrue due to an accident is not normal. Why is good health care a privilege when it should be a human right?”
I Lived Abroad For 11 Years. This Is The Thing That Shocked Me Most When I Moved Back To The U.S. "The U.S. is a country many Europeans look at through a critical lens — 'a place to visit, but not to live,' as my German doctor put it."
SCV peeps — Stay safe and dry.
How freeing rivers can help California ease flood risks and revive ecosystems Efforts to restore river floodplains are expanding in California. Making space for water is increasingly seen as a natural solution for floods and droughts.

Audrey was nearly sent to slaughter pregnant, but now she has the life we wish for all mothers: she spends her days with her daughters by her side. Help us support our work rescuing animals like this family and send a *virtual* cow hug from Audrey to the moms in your life this : https://bit.ly/3HznXtT
Audrey's story:
On the farm where Audrey lived, she was kept eternally pregnant and had her babies taken away each year. When we found out about her, we were able to stop this cycle and bring her to The Gentle Barn along with her young daughter Truth. Months later, she gave birth to baby Love! While she was so scared at first that she would suffer the same fate at her new home as she had all her life, she has now learned to trust us, and is even letting us give her chin scratches. Her two daughters, who have only known the safety of sanctuary, have become Cow Hug Therapy ambassadors. They lie down and join visitors in meditation, enjoying the calm and cuddles.
The three of them run, play, eat, and meditate every day, and sleep near each other every night. Keeping families connected in this way is one of our greatest joys at The Gentle Barn 💕
Lazy Sunday!
