This guardrail is about 6” too short! You could easily access and sit upon the railing and risk loosing your balance and falling into the stairwell! They should be at least 36” high!

We’ll here’s one. Water heater TPRV Drain lines should not be trapped or sloped uphill. They should be allowed to drain by gravity to its termination area.

For those of you who have furnace/cooling systems in the attic. Check where the secondary condensate drain line is. It’s usually stubbed at the exterior over a window. Look for moisture stains or evidence of leaks. This usually means the primary line is clogged or other drainage malfunction. So in this case this drain did its job. Now you have to find out why.

Flexible gas line connectors should never be routed through walls or floors! And the gas shut-off valve should always reside within 3’ And in the same room as the appliance it serves.

Exposed electrical connections are a fire hazard. They should always be enclosed in a proper junction box… it’s probably a good idea to insulate those water pipes too.

This is an old house. Upon discovering a leak at the drain line. I discovered something else, that clamp attached to the water pipe is the grounding connection for the electrical panel/system. The problem is the house was
re-piped! Technically The grounding clamp is now connected to the wrong pipe! I’ll see you at the next inspection!

On balconies or stairs, not only should the vertical railings be within 4” apart for child safety, the lower horizontal rail should be within 4” from the deck floor. A kid or small animal could fit through that!

Windows or side lights that are next to doors can shatter if the door is slammed. They should be tempered or have safety film applied.
