▫️ It takes time - sometimes upwards of 500 hours, depending on the scope of our work.
▫️ It takes skill - to manage all the contractors, vendors and materials needed to transform your space yet still make it feel seamless to you as the client.

We're talking four easy steps you can do to give your kitchen that put together, "like RRI just styled it" look!
▫️ Declutter and remove EVERYTHING off your countertops
▫️Then you can pick and choose a few items to keep out that you NEED. Less is more! The less bulky, large appliances the better.
▫️Create groupings - one of our go to tricks is to layer cutting boards of all different sizes and colors to add back some warmth and texture
▫️Add a tray to the island and by the sink to easily keep necessities together with a cohesive, elevated look

Our playroom from our Sterling Project was once a GORGEOUS dining room (that yes…was designed by RRI!)
However, it was also a space that was often never touched. When my clients started a family and kids toys were everywhere, it was the only place that made sense, in their very open floorplan, to put a playroom.
And the moment my client told me what she wanted to do…I was completely on board! But I knew we needed to do it right so it wasn’t just any old playroom. I wanted
✔️ built ins to hide the toys
✔️ baskets for easy cleanup
✔️ and some great other elements to transform this space!
This playroom is now not only beautiful, but it is also functional. That was the key to this space, and the kids absolutely love to play in here…and the parents absolutely love that their toys are not sprawled out all over the family room

This is the one thing we’ll always recommend you splurge on ⤵️
Your fixtures!
There is nothing worse than picking cheap fixtures and they start leaking after 2 months. Fixtures is the one area I will always make sure we are doing high end.
But don’t forget: you do need to make sure you budget a realistic number for these beauties 😉

Looking back at our Moondust project 🌙
When RRI was approached to create a home with a fun, electric modern vibe, we jumped at the opportunity! We had worked with this client in the past and it was an absolute joy to be brought back to transform this downstairs space.
The downstairs consisted of a living room (never used), a dining room (in the middle of the house that was so random!), and a kitchen and family room that was dark and not functional. There was a courtyard space that was completely overgrown and a waste of space.
So what did we do? We took this lifeless courtyard and added it to the square footage inside to give us more space to work with. We completely opened up the floor plan to allow each space to flow, and utilized our signature style with natural materials to create a space that was not only friendly for kids but refined for the adults.
Love this project as much as we do? Save this post for inspo ⬇️

Swipe to see four of our favorite places to include built ins for our client projects ➡️
First up, of course, is the playroom! This space is a parents best friend and worst nightmare all at the same time 😬 Its place where the kids build memories and play, but its also a place that looks like a total disaster at the end of each day - which is where having custom built ins makes your life so much easy (and way more stylish)
(This one was organized by Chantell of and she absolutely crushed it!)
👉🏻 Next we have the home office. This is where all the extra storage a built-in provides comes in SO handy. We designed this one to hold the printer and hide all the cords, plus plenty of extra space for all the work papers.
And similar to the play room, a game room benefits from a built-in! This one not only provides more storage but also offers extra seating and serves as a focal point of the room.
Our final go-to spot for a built in is a home bar moment 🥂 The glass upper cabinets helps this bar feel not so heavy, and is a great way to display all their beautiful glassware and decor from The Shop @ RRI!
Which of these built-ins would you want in your home? Make sure you save this post for inspiration ⬇️

We love a clean neutral color palette with layers of textures, materials and woods.
Every space has something unique, that sets it apart from the other spaces in the home, but still feels cohesive with the rest of the house.
That is our signature Refined California Casual style 🤍

Spending our Sunday recharging before we get back to work (and wishing our bedroom was as serene as the primary suite from our project!)
How do you get ready for the week?
Do the words “quartz”, “porcelain”, and “soapstone” sound like gibberish to you?
If you’re about to undertake a kitchen or bath remodel, you need to know these materials. Keep reading for an easy breakdown ⤵️
▫️Granite: a natural stone, very heat resistant and doesn’t scratch easily (but can be known to chip). It also withstands stains but requires proper sealing
▫️Marble: a high-maintenance beauty, this option is soft and porous so does require a sealer like granite
▫️Porcelain: This is one of our go tos not only for its consistency, but its very many pros. It’s low maintenance, highly heat resistant, scratch resistant and non-porous. The only downside is the color is only on the surface, and not throughout.
▫️Quartz: Best known for its durability and consistency, it can closely mirror marble and concrete! The only thing you’ll need to avoid is putting hot pots or pans directly on it.
▫️Quartzite: also low maintenance, it is scratch heat and stain resistant but does need to be resealed throughout its life

Just because it’s a kids bedroom doesn’t mean it has to be childish or bland!
