It’s always wonderful to be on the campus here, where Mr. Glidewell has created a vision that is “TGIM” (a place where a “Thank God It’s Monday” culture can breathe so that people might look forward to coming to work —not just leaving it on a Friday 😉).

We spent our Friday learning how to use even more features on our Same Day crown and partial crown computer design and mill software. Excited to bring more options and efficiencies to our practice and patients. 🙌

Surreal to be back from an epic vacation to Taiwan and Japan that hit all the feels! There was some zen, adventure, special reunion and connection with family (first time for kids meeting their relatives in Taiwan), sushi for breakfast 😆😋 and fun meeting up in Japan with bestie also traveling with her family. Life is short, take the vacation. There is never a good time and there is also always a good time.

Grateful for my colleagues and team who held down the fort and kept taking good care of our patients while I was gone.

Got a kick out of seeing how nasal hygiene and mouth taping is a thing in Asia! In our practice, we are always thinking comprehensive oral and dental wellness, and we talk about proper nasal breathing and mouth posture, using aids like mouth tape. Easy to spot saline spray and mouth tape in drugstores there. 👍🏼 Snagged some to try out at home. 😉

Happy Memorial Day! We remember and thank those who died for the very freedoms we enjoy and often take for granted, daily. 🇺🇸 Sometimes it’s a day to visit a cemetery and pay respects to those who served and gave their lives for this country.

Often, this holiday includes a kick-off to summer, backyard BBQs, relaxation and time with friends/family. We certainly hope you enjoy some time with loved ones.

Dr. Grace: This year, I was cleaning out the garage and happened down memory lane, as I came across old dental anatomy relics (tooth models 🦷😁 and a gold bridge waxed up, then cast for a graduation requirement…it may need some polishing ✨🪩😆). It’s only been a short 20+ years since dental school. Discovering a letter from a patient to my overseeing faculty practice instructor was an unexpected, special gift🫶 — especially since I had no memory of ever receiving it the first time ⁉️😆. It’s an encouragement because what I sought to be as a baby dentist has remained the same and never changed. I recognize that self and am glad though the journey can be tiring and I am not perfect, that I still prepare, seek to deliver my best and do right for each patient. Dentistry is a lot of finesse…we are doing mini microsurgery on awake people while trying to be quick, efficient and close to perfect. It feels like we are doing a magic trick every day, multiple times a day. And I still am privileged to have the opportunity to serve my patients, design smiles and guide someone to oral wellness. Thank goodness for music🎧🎶, movie/sports and entertainment distractions we can offer, or sleep dentistry sedation 😴💤 to make the time pass comfortably.

Day out of the office in Orange County: got to attend the annual California Dental Association convention, meet dentist colleagues and friends .natanya to name some ☺️ (should have taken more photos, but was in the moment). Took the opportunity to connect with vendors and some terrific companies, view new technology and also meet with an executive coach who has been a great help for personal and professional growth. Shout out to Tara Norton at Accelerated Performance Solutions —today was our last meeting and it’s been a transformative journey of discovery and leadership insights. And for making this possible. Thank you so much!

The truth is, practice ownership is a lot of work! There are moments of great personal and professional satisfaction with helping our patients 💗 and then there is the sweat, trials and investment in learning/ vetting systems and products that is not seen. Sometimes things pan out and other times it can be a slow progress behind the scenes. Still believe it’s worth all the efforts to make a positive impact. Meeting colleagues that lift each other up and elevate the profession is among the highlights.

Happy Mother’s Day! We appreciate our moms not just on this one day, of course, but use this occasion to especially recognize them. Hope our moms are all taking a break and getting extra 💗!

And when we are moms, we often appreciate our own moms even more, right?!

Weekend thoughts, Dr. Grace: Rediscovered this song, which was playing on a record player (what are those?) in the hotel room! It occured to me that someone somewhere may need to be reminded of these words. Life is hard, challenges arise and navigating them can be murky. Sometimes we need reassurance that it’s going to be okay.

Dr. Grace got to attend one of her favorite dental meetings which is an annual Mommy Dentist in Business CEO roundtable conference this past weekend. Every year, 50 women meet (many are same returning members) to continue to learn how to plan, lead, share best practices,
around personal and professional enrichment required for being business owners (something not taught in dental school). It’s a group which is generous in spirit and makes one feel, “it’s all going to be okay.”

It also reminds us all of the type of practice we endeavor to be. We remain here for our patients as a space where whether we are treating someone who is new or a long-time patient, young or “older,” that we will take excellent care to listen, provide a comprehensive plan for smile design, restoration and oral health so “don’t you worry, everything is goin’ to be alright”!

A look at a week in the life at Sweet Tooth Dentistry! We started Monday with celebrating the birthday of our hygienist, Claribel. She is engaging and great with our patients. She says she has “a passion for bringing health to smiles through guidance, education and persistence.” She’s also a Dodgers fan, fave show is Grey’s anatomy, and enjoys hiking and baking.

We closed out the week by surprising our office manager, Sarah, with a baby shower 🥳🤰💞 and can’t wait to meet baby Claire!

In the middle of a full week, was Valentine’s Day of course, and sweet gifts/good news from patients. We love seeing our patients and finding out about milestones and news in their lives (birth announcement 💗…or actually a previous week, exchanging hugs in the hallway with a dear patient who is now cancer free 🙌 😀) And we were spoiled to receive a crate of Washington navel 🍊picked by a patient (THANK YOU, what a thoughtful gesture!!)…we took the photo the next day after we dug into them and also found the card at the bottom 😂.

This is what we love about a busy, general and family dentistry practice: the human relationships and connections. We are blessed to be a part of your lives and help you smile with greater health and wellness.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and for making birthday work fun and special! Shout out the team and to Liliana especially, who outdid herself on the decorations. 💗

Lower teeth matter, too! Dr. Grace restored 6 lower anterior teeth with zirconia veneers and we love our patient’s exclamation, “My teeth are gorgeous!” and he kept looking, smiling and enjoying them. He said his friend commented, “they look real!” 😆

He took the time to compose a poem 🤩 about his experience with us and posted it as a 5 star review. 💗😊 Thanks for trusting us with your smile transformation and are so glad you think it was so worth it! Patients and experiences like this make us love our job and keep it fun!

2024 brings opportunities to dare again, learn, keep going and showing up as our best selves for the good of our patients, friends and family.

Martin Luther King, famously said, “The time is always right to do what is right.” As we remember his legacy and seek to live well, we think of how we move through each day.

This year, we are challenged to keep looking for the gift in each day and give ourselves pause to see it. A recent getaway to the central coast was refreshing and reminder of beauty seen in blustery, winter elements. It also reminded Dr. Grace that she saw a natural structure many years ago in Colorado’s Garden of the Gods, known as “the Three Graces” (named after Zeus’ daughters).

Rolling into the holiday season rrrright! 😊 We love smile transformations and this is a fantastic one for a sweet lady!! 💗Congrats on your smile and we hope you enjoy smiling often this season and well into the new year ahead.

We got to celebrate the end of the year and holiday season as a team yesterday! Every day we work hard to make magic happen. We got to carve out time for fun. Thanks to for a great, new experience starting and finishing custom projects for our homes (and office 😉), also dinner and secret 🎅🏼🎁.

Cassie likes to travel ✈️ and eat different types of food. She recently got to spend time visiting Japan. She enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family, and morning walks with her husband. For stress relief, her go-to is yoga. Fun, random fact is that she loves to decorate for the holidays (decorating as early as, umm, Oct. 1st)! LOL 😆

To this end, got to visit Boston for CE + fun with amazing Conversations about the power of collaboration + innovation, oral cancer, leukoplakia (white patches, and PVL), keeping gums healthier with perio protect and other non-surgical ways, modern dentures, practice management. There was even a DJ!


Bonus entertainment w/ brothers 👦🏻spinning🍕🤩 in the air while dancing and moving around the conference room to kick off happy hour As a south Jersey gal, this was a great moment!! 😂🍕💞

Took a walk down memory lane to return where it all started >21 yrs ago at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Tension and intensity of late nights in lab (waxing up crowns 😆), preclinical, clinic, lecture hall (chairs are exactly the same!) 🦷💗

Highlight to hear Dr. Bill Magee, cofounder of Operation Smiles (41 years ago started to treat cleft palate/lip for millions without access to surgical care and still a staggering 80% of the world today). He observed, “Reason leads to conclusion, but emotion leads to action.” He shared a video showing the story of a child treated; exciting for future potential mission to join the work someday! He also said:

MOST PEOPLE DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE MOST SIGNFICANT EVENTS IN THEIR LIVES WHILE THEY ARE HAPPENING.

A profound thought that gave goosebumps! Encouraging all to live without fear and moving forward to contribute and seek the intersection of passion+vocation+career+charity so that WHAT YOU LOVE meets WHAT YOU DO WELL and WHAT YOU CAN BE PAID TO DO dovetails with WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS 🙌

Just knew it would be fantastic to hear .susanmcmahon speak on VENEERS and smile design!! Been looking forward to this for some time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your stories and expertise. 🙌 So happy to have finally met you this past weekend! 💗

Well, “pinch me” because I got to sit with Rella Christensen at lunch today at the Dentistry on the Rise symposium about Elevating Your Practice with Technology.

It was a packed day 1 (like speed dating meets dental topics) 😄 Many compelling presentations included digital workflows in esthetics, implants, dentures, smile design, treatment plans, milling crowns, sleep appliances, ergonomics and even a special sobering topic on human trafficking and how nearly a 1/3 of those human trafficked report having gone to the dentist (and what we can do as dentists to be ready to help).

It was a real pleasure to hear Rella Christensen speak and just be in her presence! This sharp, almost 85 years young woman (Happy birthday in a few days!) with PhDs in physiology and microbiology was charming, kind, disarming, down-to-earth, inspiring and still hard at work researching in dental microbiology and materials science. 🤩🤯 Congrats on being recognized as a Woman of Influence by Glidewell. I’m so lucky to have happened to stand in line next to you and thank you for inviting me to sit with you at lunch! You made my day special just by being you and were so easy to talk to.

It’s awesome to have an option to close gaps between teeth conservatively (no drilling, bonded composite, and just some polishing at the finish)!! Natural results and dramatically reduces frustrating heavy debris/stain and bacteria build-up. Win-win and this patient was super happy! 😊💃🏻🕺🏼 She even said she fell asleep during the process.

Why do people get gaps between their teeth? You know, when it looks like there’s a seed or black peppercorn stuck there, by the teeth and gums? We call these “black triangles” 🔼⚠️
This can result from gums actively pulling away after recession.
Or post-ortho, when crooked teeth are straight on top but the gum papilla doesn’t completely fill in.

Veneers with porcelain, or flowable composite design are wonderful options to fix this. And here’s another: Dr. Grace used the Bioclear method with composite injection molding and special custom matrixes. It is super conservative (no drilling) and takes 1 visit.

Today is our 7th year anniversary of opening Sweet Tooth Dentistry! It’s hard to believe that the time has passed by so quickly. We are thankful for the patients we get to take care of and opportunities to do good while doing good. 😊

Thank you for having us and the opportunity to preview the as well. It’s sobering how much need and lack is out there. We are blessed to be able to help others and want to continue doing so as much as we can.

Single replacement of a broken veneer with multiple cracks — still one of the hardest things to address in dentistry, esthetically. We made it happen and got the smile restored. ☺️ Thanks for choosing us to fix the problem and for making the trek all the way from Oregon!

It was another great weekend with Guiding Leaders! Practice management and leadership, learning about the art of negotiation, rooftop fun and sisterhood comraderie with amazing women dentist bosses.
