Dental emergencies can happen when you least expect them! Here are 5 common dental emergencies and what you should do if they happen to you 🤕👇
1. Toothache 😖🦷 A toothache can be a sign of an infection or cavity. Rinse your mouth with warm water and gently floss around the tooth to remove any stuck food. If the pain doesn’t go away, call your dentist right away! Avoid putting aspirin directly on the tooth as it can damage your gums.
2. Knocked-Out Tooth 😲🦷 If your tooth gets knocked out, don’t panic! Pick it up by the crown (not the root) and gently rinse it with water. Try to place the tooth back in its socket, if possible. If not, put it in a container with milk or saliva, and get to the dentist within an hour for the best chance of saving it!
3. Broken or Chipped Tooth 😬💔 If you break or chip a tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the area to reduce swelling. Save any broken pieces of the tooth if you can, and see your dentist as soon as possible to repair it.
4. Lost Filling or Crown 😣👑 If you lose a filling or crown, try to keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side of your mouth. You can use dental cement (available at most drugstores) to temporarily cover the area. Visit your dentist to get the filling or crown replaced.
5. Abscess or Swelling 🤒💧 An abscess is a serious infection that can cause pain and swelling. If you notice a painful bump on your gums or swelling in your face, rinse your mouth with saltwater and call your dentist immediately. Abscesses need urgent care to prevent the infection from spreading.
If you're experiencing any of these dental emergencies, don’t wait! Call your dentist right away for help 🏥📞. Quick action can save your smile!

Did you know that your oral health is linked to your immune system? Here are 5 ways poor oral hygiene can weaken your body's defenses 👇
1. Bacteria Build-Up in the Mouth 🦠😬
When you don’t brush or floss regularly, harmful bacteria build up in your mouth. This can lead to infections like gum disease, which can weaken your immune system.
2. Inflammation Spreads 🤕🔥
Gum disease causes inflammation in your mouth, and if left untreated, it can spread to other parts of your body. This makes it harder for your immune system to fight off illnesses.
3. Increased Risk of Infections 🚨⚠️
Poor oral hygiene can lead to tooth decay and abscesses, which are infections in the teeth or gums. These infections can enter your bloodstream and affect your whole body, putting more stress on your immune system.
4. Impact on Heart Health 💓🦷
Gum disease has been linked to heart disease. The bacteria from your gums can enter your bloodstream, increasing the risk of heart problems and further straining your immune system.
5. Weaker Defense Against Other Illnesses 🛡️😷
When your immune system is busy dealing with oral health issues, it has less strength to fight off other infections. This makes you more vulnerable to getting sick.
Keep your mouth clean and healthy to protect not just your teeth, but your whole body! 😊🦷💪

Sedation dentistry is a solution for patients who are afraid of the dentist’s chair or have time constraints that would benefit from more efficient treatment plans.
The best way to learn how sedation dentistry can benefit you is to schedule an appointment to discuss your concerns, needs, and hopes. In our “zero judgment zone” it’s our mission to provide you something to truly smile about.
