Artist Spotlight 🎨💡Nā Stretton - We are so drawn to her beautiful work and her overall creativity…she seems to have endless ideas and makes the prettiest things that we want to wear every day! Fun fact: Nā made Nicole’s earrings for the NEXTies! ✨
In her words:
Hi ! I’m Naomi Stretton and I am the creator of Nā Stretton designs. I started designing jewelry over 20 years ago as a hobby. I would take apart old jewelry to create new pieces. It quickly became a passion and I started selling to stores locally in Santa Cruz.
After a while my passions grew in other areas of my life and I became a photographer, and a mom and before I knew it I neglected to take out my beads for many years. Once the pandemic hit, I pulled out my long lost beads and started playing around again and I realized my style had changed a lot in 20 years and my passion for creating jewelry was reborn. I began making jewelry that I wanted wear and couldn’t find anywhere else. My designs are an extension of me and what I find beautiful. It fills me with so much joy when I see YOU wearing something I created and also seeing beauty in them too! So thank you.

Meet Joe! Although Joe isn’t a Santa Cruz native, we’ve been lucky enough to have been carrying his bright, whimsical surf art since meeting him at the 2021 Capitola Art & Wine Festival.
Joe lives in Encinitas, California with his wife and three kids so it’s easy to see where his inspiration comes from for his baby book, ‘Surfer Baby’ and his insanely clever and fun children’s book, ‘Surfery Rhymes’.
We have just received a brand new shipment of Joe‘s pieces, so hurry in, they go quick!! ☀️
Little Makua loves Rootstock 💗 And we love it when you bring your friendly doggos to the shop! 🐾🐶
Artist Spotlight 🎨🔦 Brittany Ann of ONE IS ALL Meduims: Film photography, handpainted pottery, apparel, and accessories. Fun fact: she’s on the Rootstock team and we LOVE her! She always has a beautiful smile on her face, her positivity and exceptional organizational skills make her an incredible asset to the Rootstock team! (See last photo) 💗
In her words: “Welcome to ONE IS ALL. My name is Brittany. I started OlA in 2018 as a way to fundraise for my community. Since then, OlA has evolved and grown into a local small
business in Santa Cruz, CA. I have been shooting for about 10 years and I shoot all film photography. Most of my photography is taken around town so it has a beach town vibe. I also travel a few times a year to add variety to my collection of prints. I love looking around to
capture the beauty I see in the world. To be able share it with my community means the world to me.
I chose the name ONE IS ALL to remind us we are not as different as we might perceive. A reminder to be kind, understanding and
strong. Art has an amazing way of uniting us and in todays society
unity is greatly needed.”
Well said, Brit 🫶🏽

Please welcome the newest member of the Rootstock family of artists Katie Loggins of ! We’ve been wanting to add stained glass to the mediums represented in the shop for a long time and have been on the search for someone who’s style and vibe aligned with the shop. When she brought her pieces in, we knew immediately she was the one!! Welcome to Rootstock Katie, we’re so happy to have you!! 🎉🍾🥳
A couple of fun facts about Katie’s pieces: she rarely uses the same color combinations more than once, which means if you see a piece you love, grab it! It may be the only one she ever makes just like that. Which also means you’re getting a one of a kind piece of art! Also, in her surfboard fin piece, there are a total of 7 fin shapes including the main one. We think that’s pretty freakin’ cool! Don’t you agree!?
If there’s a piece of Nicole’s fine art photography you’ve been eyeing, now’s the time! 20% off in store only!

As a business that supports local makers- aka normal people- we want to take a moment to honor the idea of rest, recovery, and reset. Often times in retail we experience life through this concept of the consumerism calendar year, which does not account for this concept of honoring ourselves and our needs! Rootstock is a place of community. We have makers that are single parents, students, small business owners, etc. By supporting Rootstock you are also supporting our values and what we believe matters for ourselves & our ever growing family of artists. Thank you for the continuous support through these trying years! We are so blessed to be able to share this space with you all♥️
We can’t wait to see everyone February 1st!
With so much gratitude, Nicole
This community means everything to us, and it’s been heartbreaking to see pieces washing away. We’re hoping for everyone’s safety during this unpredictable weather. We are a strong community and we will get through this together. ❤️ Please stay safe.
