Our community vote for the photo of the month goes to Cecilia! She's only a couple weeks old in this photo, but already a much loved moon child. 🌛
Newborn sessions are best undertaken 5-14 days after birth, and because of that, it's best to call early on in pregnancy - our slots book up, and the time window for these incredibly cute images is pretty narrow! We also include a maternity session and hair and makeup for both if you like the idea!

eyeCatchLight Photography is looking for an assistant who can welcome clients during events and package/ship/deliver portrait orders. The assistant will also take care of small marketing tasks such as newsletter updates and occasional social media posts.
The successful candidate could also be needed as a backup for culling/editing when the main staff member is unavailable.
Other administrative tasks may be required.
This position is a contract based opportunity and will be paid at an hourly rate. The workload is estimated to be about 10-40h/month. The successful candidate should be local to Santa Cruz (or reasonably close).
Successful qualifications:
Outstanding communication skills
Work experience in a high-end/luxury environment
Positivity
A car to deliver packages either to UPS or the client (if local)
Desired qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience with OneDrive
Proficiency in Lightroom and Photoshop

It was a true pleasure working on branding. She had a very clear and detailed vision, and we put our heart and soul into making it come alive with our complimentary hair and makeup, styling advice, and a combination of studio as well as lifestyle portraits by the ocean and its beautiful high end real estate.
Amy just started out and already has several sold properties to show for - I knew she'd be part of the sometimes tough to achieve success in real estate when she described in astute detail and assertion where she's headed. I'm so impressed!

The April photo of the month vote fell on Kaylee and her brand new little baby brother! Their parents already came to the eyeCatchLight studio for Kaylee's newborn photos, and we've now completed the collection with a second album, looking exactly like the first, so nobody feels jealous! Both of them were a delight to work with and sooo well behaved! It made me so happy that I could capture this family's progression! 😭

Terrence is the lucky winner of the luxury portrait session we donated to the raffle of the Annual Gala that the hosted last month. He's the Dean of Research, Planning, and Effectiveness at - this made me so happy given that I'm an academic next to owning this portrait studio! 👩🎓

Jeanne came in for headshots and branding portraits. We had a ton of fun! She really enjoyed our complementary hair and makeup, and she loved the printed folios of her images that came included with her digital purchase. It's really interesting how much more stunning a printed product can look nowadays given we're so used to the ever present digital files posted everywhere. It makes me so happy that these created joy.

So exciting to be featured in the Live Happier blog! 🥰
The question so many of us struggle with…
We all have the best intentions for better self care, but often the big question for ourselves is, “Where can I find the time in my busy schedule?”. That’s why I’m so excited to share an interview with one of the most multitalented individuals I’ve ever met who is able to make plenty of time for self care despite having multiple careers.
In my field of work, I examine routines, time management, behaviors and happiness, so I was curious how Simone successfully handles two very opposite professions at once, in different parts of the country, and finds the time and energy to be an avid marathon runner.
While I never suggest comparison as a form of success measurement (everyone’s circumstances, beliefs and desires are different), I do believe in learning from one another.
That’s why I love taking a deeper dive into the habits and self care of individuals who are thriving with their wellness routine. For those that have found a way of life that allows them to thrive, what’s their key to success? For those that struggle with certain areas of life, what’s the root of the challenge? That’s what we explore here on the Live Happier blog.

The photo of the month (a 100% vote nonetheless!) for March is of Amy! She's starting a high end real estate business, so our luxury sessions were ideal for her! We had so much fun with the hair and makeup, giving hera special JLo glow - she looks so much like her!! Her portraits included studio headshots followed by lifestyle images at the Lighthouse, West Cliff Drive, and Natural Bridges! Yes and No have equal weighting – what’s important is if you use them when they are the best thing for you, not out of fear, obligation or guilt.
You have permission to know that Yes is powerful, and so is No. The power comes from you using either from your highest spirit and truest integrity.
You have permission to change. You have permission to not be the person you once were.
You have permission to get angry and self-righteous, and to also glean the wisdom from those emotions. They are leading you to where your boundaries are, and where they have been crossed, and what you need to do from now on.
You have permission to be exactly how you are.
You have permission to not be more like anyone else in the world, even if you think they are better, wiser or more popular. You have permission to be more like yourself, your gifts and your wisdom.
You have permission to not care what other people think of you.
You have permission to not try to change what other people think of you. You can’t ever argue that you are a good person. They will either know you are, or not. You don’t need to spend time with people who don’t believe in you.
You have permission to do things that your friends and family do not.
You have permission to be wild, expressive, truthful, exciting and outspoken.
You have permission to not accept friendship requests on Facebook, or anywhere else in your life. You have permission to block people whenever you like.
You have permission to share as much or as little as you like. You have permission to blog, or not blog. You have permission to Twitter, or not to Twitter. It doesn’t really matter. As long as it’s making you happy, that’s the best thing.
You have permission to suck at a wide variety of activities. It’s okay. You make up for it with your million other brilliance particles.
You have permission to be whatever body shape you like.
You have permission to choose, and choose again. And then choose again.
You have permission to not always be a perfect image of something.
You have permission to be a contradiction.
You have permission to not go to your school reunion, unless it really excites you and delights you, and you would love to really heart-reconnect with people you went to school with.
You have permission to not be interested in the newest fad: harem pants, geek glasses, polaroid cameras, scrapbooking, macrame. You also have permission to be totally obsessed with them, if it makes your heart light up.
You have permission to cut people from your life. You have permission to surround yourself with people who are good and loving and nurturing to you.
You have permission to be a disappointment to some people, as long as you’re not a disappointment to yourself.
You have permission to do nothing whenever you like.
You have permission to not have the perfect relationship.

You have permission to take whatever time you need for you.

You have permission to use and listen to your intuition. To feel when things are off, and to remove yourself from them, even when you don’t quite know why. You will always find out why. Our intuition is here to serve us.

You have permission to still believe in unicorns and fairies.
You have permission to believe in things that other people think are very very odd and strange. You have permission to not care. You have permission to believe in things that make your life wholer, richer and deeper. You have permission to make your own world that is the truest painting of you.
