Artist Feature | Local artist Mike Bencze, a graphic design aficionado with a serious love for screen printing and illustration, transforms his hiking adventures into captivating artwork. Mike channels the magic of his favorite landscapes into his creations. Some of our favorites are Henry Cowell, Pinnacles, Joshua Tree and Yosemite. He kicks off his process with pencil sketches, then takes his art on a vibrant journey through Photoshop, layering in color, texture, highlights, and shadows. Each piece is a tribute to the trails he’s explored and the natural beauty that leaves him in awe.

Meet Chris Hinck, a Santa Cruz artist with a knack for balancing life’s adventures! After graduating with degrees in Fine Art and Biochemistry from UC Santa Cruz, Chris dived into the world of commercial fishing while keeping his artistic dreams afloat. Though his brush took a backseat while he juggled family life and construction projects, he’s now back in action! With his kids off on their own adventures, Chris paints vibrant landscapes inspired by his favorite hiking and biking trails. He loves working in acrylics and watercolors, and never misses a chance to practice figure drawing in pencil and graphite. Join us from 6-8pm on Friday Aug 2nd for First Friday.
